The elegance is obvious. It's a first-rate place with strong construction, big open air courtyard, a nice bar and a lushly-decorated outdoor pool. The rooms are big and laid out nicely with a view, in my room, that looked out to the courtyard from the bed. Very nice.Recommended for:

This is a massive and beautiful old building. It has a certain Spanish-Victorian charm with all the archways, balconies and window-pained doors. Many of the rooms open right onto the balconies that circle the beautiful outdoor center courtyard, pool and stone hot tub. The rooms are a little on the small size, but they make good use of the rooms. Offering a full-sized couch, dresser, flat screen TV and desk in even the smaller suites. One odd drawback, is you have to pay for parking. As well, breakfast is an additional charge, which can make this place seem a little unreasonable for the price of a room. There are a lot of huge conference halls and business rooms that suggests this hotel is best-suited for the business traveler. However, a family or couple could find this place to be a fun resort-like getaway, if they don’t mind the bill.Recommended for:

The grand, Spanish colonial exterior of the Doubletree Hotel, just north of downtown on Interstate 35, almost seems out of place in the industrial surroundings. It's a business-friendly option (most of Austin's biggest corporations are just minutes away), but there aren't many complimentary amenities if travelers are looking for a bargain or comfortable extended stay. There is a 24-hour business center and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, but guest parking (either self-parking or valet) and a daily hot breakfast are additional charges.Recommended for:

Double Tree by Hilton is a massive but a beautiful structure. The hotel consists of tall, high ceilings, with curved window panels creating an impressive European feel. The hotel offers a full restaurant with meals served throughout the day. Breakfast can be included with your stay for extra charge. Double Tree is most definitely more ideal for the business kind. There are several large meeting rooms and a business center with computers, printers, a fax machine, and an ATM. The rooms are simple and not as impressive as the rest of the hotel. However, the restroom has an additional phone next to the toilet, a variable showerhead, a large magnified mirror for make-up needs, and air purifier upon request. There is also free WIFI throughout the hotel. One of the downsides to the hotel is that parking is charged. Double Tree is most ideal for the business type.Recommended for:
