Good restaurants, cool bars and up and coming acts in the lounge downstairs. Never stayed in the rooms, but friends have and enjoyed it a lot. An alt-hotel. Streetcar at the door takes you downtown, or just walk down Queen Street west for some of the city's most interesting shopping.

Better known to Torontonians as a good place to go see DJs or to grab great brunch meals on weekends, the Drake Hotel is also an actual hotel too! The hotel is super stylist, from the front entrance through to the cafe, basement, and the rooms, and is even packed on most nights with stylish people!
The rooms themselves start at around$200, and though well decorated, are pretty small and cramped - seems pretty expensive, especially if you consider the fact that there aren't a lot of amenities included in the room cost. I guess you are paying more for style than substance, but two awesome pluses might make up for that...the musicians, DJ's, and events in general that are held there and the brunch menu. Try the fried chicken and waffles, the scones with house-made spreads, and the eggs benny!! If I could give the food a rating alone, i would give it 5 stars for sure...

The Drake Hotel is a party spot first, hotel second - at least for most Torontonians. With its popular event spaces, restaurant, cafe, rooftop lounge and underground club that features local and international DJs spinning cutting-edge music most nights of the week, do not expect a quiet, relaxing time if you're staying at The Drake. Located in Toronto's West End, it's also a good 30 minute streetcar ride to get downtown, and if you are visiting on business, or want to be close to tourist attractions like the CN Tower, this might not be the spot for you. If you want to be near cool galleries, great shopping, and funky bars however, then The Drake is a fun spot to mix and mingle with the pretty young things of Toronto. The rooms are all cool grey, browns and oranges, with playful details like stuffed animals and snacks from their downstairs shop. There are also lots of little extras available, like rental bikes, sexy "pleasure packages" and in-room spa treatments. Even if you don't stay here, come by for Sunday brunch and try the chicken and waffles and/or the scones - the best in the city.
