No matter what type of traveler you may be, I highly recommend taking a visit to the Dubai creek. The seawater cuts through the heart of Dubai and separates Deira and Bur Dubai. Take a ride on a traditional wooden boat (dhow) down the creek and enjoy the old and new scenery, from the glistening buildings to the old Spice Souk. If you’re on a budget, you can take a short water taxi ride (abra) to cross the river amongst the locals and reach the Creekside park. But if you’re looking for a lovely evening out, you can take a longer dhow dinner cruise and enjoy local food and a live dance show on the boat (these take place at 8:30pm daily).

The creek is the heart and soul of the "old" city and is the center of the action for anyone seeking to discover Dubai's cultural heritage. Take a ride on an abra, visit the nearby souks (on both sides of the river), and sail along to catch a fading glimpse of the "real" Dubai.

We took a stroll and it was nice. The water is not pretty but the stroll was peaceful. A lot of exporting and importing happens along the creek, especially on the old souk side.

Dubai creak is a busy place with working merchant boats, water taxis, and dinner cruises fighting for space. It's a great way to see the older parts of town. Take one of the cruises, perhaps as part of the Big Bus Tour which includes it with the basic package.

I had a higher expectation before I visited Dubai Creek expecting to see some traditional way of living around this area. I was quite disappointed to see the area was quite developed.

You get to see more of the old Dubai, lots of souks with plenty of shops to buy from, you can get tours round the creek in open top busses too.

Enjoy dinner aboard a traditional Arabian Dhow (boat) while cruising along the Dubai creek taking in sites along the way. This is a great way to experience the city's culture & cuisine, enjoy Arabic melodies & taste some local flavors.

Description

Dubai Creek is a saltwater creek that cuts through the city of Dubai. The creek has played an important historical role in the establishment of Dubai's local economy. It formerly served as a small port for ships, as well as the primary excavation destination for those working in Dubai's pearling industry. After the creek was dredged in the latter half of the 20th century, it began to accommodate ... read more
much larger vessels. Today, the body of water provides a beautiful backdrop to many of the city's buildings, and travelers can journey along it in water taxis.
