Known for their fries with many sauce choices, Duck Fat also has delicious sandwiches and good local beer. Only downside is it's crowded so you may need to get a cone of fries to go.

These guys have the best selection of beer and cider in downtown Portland, in my opinion. They always have a ton of local Maine stuff in stock (Allagash, Shipyard, Baxter, etc), plus some great selections from New York, Massachusetts, and the West Coast. They also have plenty of wine (though that selection is not especially large), and a modicum of ...

Gayle and I rented a car in Portugal through Auto Europe during our honeymoon on the Iberian Peninsula. We contracted for a Renault M├ęgane (5-door hatchback) with "inclusive" insurance for about $45 per day. Additional costs included a mandatory "road tax" of $2 a day, plus multiple highway tolls, and diesel fuel at ~$1.70 a Litre. We picked up the ...

Great cruises around the Portland Bay area. Fun to visit some of the islands. Dress warmly, even in summer, because it can be cold out there.

This place is basically like a beer garden in an old, musty basement. It's a great place to congregate and have a really great beer or three. Their selection is spectacularly huge, in particular their foreign rare imports, and totally worth the searching you'll have to do to find this place.

In'finiti is a fantastic addition to Portland's already incredible beer scene. They make their own beers, primarily belgians and sours from what I've seen (at $5-10/glass), and I hear they're starting to distill their own licquor. Their food is also really good as well, some very creative small plates to accompany your beer. They also make very clever cocktails, which ...

So this was the least exciting museum on our New England trek. However this was the only museum that you could ride a full size narrow gauge RailRoad at. Yachts and sailboate have replaced them and the town has the air of a Hollywood maine beachtown. There is a nice one-mile path aroind th cliffs to Ogunquit. There are good restairants...my favoritees are Barnacle Billy's and the posher MC. This ...

Blackstones is one of the two gay bars in Portland: the other is a dance club. This place is a man's bar, and usually has a slightly older (late 20s? 30s? 40s?) crowd. The drinks are strong, the crowd is friendly and packed in, and there's even a little pool in the back. A great regular watering hole for LGBT ...
