The site of Dukes' Bar, where the martinis are some of the best in the world. It was here that inspired Ian Fleming, after a couple of the stiff drinks, to pen the line "shaken, not stirred." The hotel itself is a luxury boutique hotel tucked into a Mayfair side street, central but not noisy, a great little hidey hole.Recommended for:

In one of London's swankier 'hoods, Duke's manages to have a comfortable feeling, with warm decor. The service is not incredibly warm and welcoming, but the place is one of London's institutions. It's charmingly set in a courtyard behind the main drag and covered in ivy. Oh, and the bar's martinis are some of the city's best.Recommended for:

Set on peaceful cul-de-sac in the affluent district of St. James in Central London is the iconic Dukes Hotel with its pleasant fusion of quintessential English appeal and superior standards. The century old collection of classic and contemporary art throughout the property is particularly remarkable. A stunning fusion of traditional with contemporary décor and furnishings reflect the luxury and comfort in each of its 90 guestrooms with their Italian marble bathrooms. Artisan chocolates, REN beauty products, bathrobes, slippers, complementary magazines and Wi-Fi Internet are all available in-room features. The restaurant serves a classic British menu designed mostly with fresh seasonal produce; it is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The legendary Duke Bars is internationally renowned for its famous martinis and personalized cocktails; apparently, Ian Fleming (James Bond’s author) has been a regular onsite. Despite, the bar’s décor is slightly stuffy, and serves drinks that probably break the bank by a rather unpleasant mixologist. Both, the Drawing Room and the Conservatory overlook the charming courtyard producing a soothing ambiance that is perfect for small bites and casual drinks. The cognac and cigar garden offers a collection of good cognacs and fine cigars including a few rare Cuban. The stay is certainly pleasant, though overpriced.Recommended for:
