If you are looking for kilometers of hiking trails then this is the place to be. Birding, searching for orchids in a deliciously temperate climate free of tropical diseases. Located only two hours from Otavalo, but worlds apart in terms of forest, warmer climate and culture.Popular with

The Galapagos Safari Camp is a distinctly unique and modern way to experience the islands. Situated on the highlands of Santa Cruz, this is the first eco-luxury tented camp in the Galapagos, which follows the African safari tradition. Guests can enjoy complete luxury in their tents while remaining right smack in the middle of nature The camp is located near ...Popular with

Great place to enjoy Amazon basin. I loved the room with the river view, friendly owners and fantastic jungle trip arranged right there.

Ecuador has a lot of history, culture, traditions and arts - and with a stay at Morenica del Rosario in one of the country's most charming cities, Cuenca, your accommodations encompass all of that. Morenica is almost as much a heritage museum as it is a hotel. Sprinkled throughout its four floors are artifacts, handicrafts, antiques and other pieces from ...Popular with

We stayed here before and after our Galapagos trip with Mountain Travel Sobek. It was the perfect place to simply rest. Rooms were comfortable and the staff was first-rate. The lobbies were decorated with dozens and dozens of roses. There are some good restaurants down the street if you're not up to venturing into the older part of the city.Popular with

Very nice spacious modern rooms. Staff was professional and breakfast buffet was excellent. It is conveniently located at the hippest area in Quito. On the weekends there are lots of parties and weddings at the hotel banquet rooms. If you are in one of the lower level rooms, noise could be an issue.Popular with

Ultra high-altitude refuge - don't be surprised to be the only one there. Facilities are adequate - but it's difficult for me to remember due to lack of oxygen!Popular with

Around the corner. Great for lunch, date night dinner, or just an afternoon coffee after hiking the Cusin crater. A paradise for religious/historic artifact lovers. It is not by the lake as shown in this map.Popular with

Excellent location right on Malecón. Helpful staff. Pretty dead area at night, lively during the day. Clean accommodations (book the Blue Room if possible, it has very good air conditioning). Lunch and dinner on offer, the menu is a bit out of the ordinary but good!Popular with

After spending nearly six months here, working on the Smithsonian's 50-hectare Forest Dynamics Plot, Yasuní will always be close to my heart. While there, most of the other residents and visitors were associated with either the Forest Dynamics Plot, the U.C. Davis primate research program or represented various European botanical research units. The facilities are not glamorous, but adequate, and ...

Pañacocha was the first place I stayed in the Amazon and it will always be dear to my heart. A beautiful oxbow lake filled with piraña, for which the place is named, is the centerpiece of this great jungle spot. Howler monkeys, giant kapok trees, peccaries, toucans, macaws and an insect menagerie from Mars makes this place a world class ...

I like the Patio Andaluz as a good option near the old town. I like the location and Colonial style and it is still affordable. Be careful venturing out on your own in Quito and leave your valuables behind. It's a great city to explore, but use common sense to avoid any hassles.

Le Parc is a great boutique hotel in Quito. The feel of the hotel is Design in style, ultra modern with NO local flavor. The location is fairly remote. I would say this property is only suitable for adults and couples. There is no pool and the breakfast is light with fewer options available. The service was very good but ...
