    Refugio José F. Ribas

    Refugio José F. Ribas

    1 review

Man, I can't say enough good things about this refugio. Perched between the Cotopaxi glacier and it's alpine lava field, the place feels like a cozy mountain lodge on Mars. This is where you stay over to climb the Cotopaxi Volcano, although sleepovers are also possible if you just want to experience the glacial environment without the harrowing climb. The ...

    Tiputini Biodiversity Station

    Tiputini Biodiversity Station

    1 review

Although this is officially a scientific research station, it is also just about the nicest place to stay in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Luxury amidst one of the most remote and biodiverse expanses of tropical wilderness on the planet. Visits must be arranged through the San Francisco University in Quito. Well worth the effort to get here!

    Sheraton Guayaquil Hotel

    1 review
Excellent! - 86% of guests recommend

We stayed at the Hotel Sheraton during our visit to Guayaquil. It was conveniently located in the center of the city to many of the sites we wanted to visit, not to mention it's close proximity to the meeting we had at the corporate headquarters of a future business partner.

    Quilotoa Crater Lake Lodge

    Quilotoa Crater Lake Lodge

    1 review

Quilotoa Lagoon is a water-filled caldera and the westernmost volcano in the Ecuadorian Andes. The 3 kilometers (2 miles) wide caldera was formed by the collapse of this volcano following a catastrophic eruption about 800 years ago. The caldera has since accumulated a 250 m (820 ft) deep crater lake, which has a greenish color as a result of dissolved ...

    Guandera Biological Station

    Guandera Biological Station

    1 review

If you can get beyond the cold and the altitude, this is truly one of Ecuador's finest protected areas and the gem of the Jatun Sacha Foundation's network of natural reserves. Hidden in a remote valley, adjacent to the Sierra's heavily-used agricultural lands, is a remnant inter-Andean forest as found nowhere else. At the higher altitudes, the lush forest gives ...

    Jatun Sacha Biological Station

    Jatun Sacha Biological Station

    1 review

As one of the first biological research stations founded in the Ecuadorian Amazon, Jatun Sacha was at one time situated in a remote wilderness location. As development has progressed in the "Oriente", this area is no longer so much pristine wilderness as just a great place to be. Catching the downdrafts at the foot of the Andes, it has a ...

El Refugio de Intag Cloud Forest Retreat

If you are looking for kilometers of hiking trails then this is the place to be. Birding, searching for orchids in a deliciously temperate climate free of tropical diseases. Located only two hours from Otavalo, but worlds apart in terms of forest, warmer climate and culture.
