in the Hope Valley, on the train line between Manchester and Sheffield, Edale is the start (or finish) of the Pennine Way. The other end is over 250 miles away in Scotland. If you don't have a spare 3 weeks to walk it, then take advantage of the other options from Edale, a short steep climb up Mam Tor and watch all the paragliders. Or a longer hike up onto Kinder Scout, with it's peat bogs, purple heather, and history of mass trespass in 1932.
