Probably the most popular attraction in Edmonton, the West Edmonton Mall can really provide hours of entertainment for both kids and adults. In addition to the normal shopping mall shops, there’s also an amusement park, waterpark, ice skating rink, miniature golf courses, sea animal shows, pirate ship, casino, and museum, all indoors. The mall is huge, so look up a ...Popular withFamiliesLocalBudget

AKA - The Drug Dome. This is the arena where the Edmonton Oilers play hockey. This is also a well used indoor concert venue and is easily accessible via automobile or public transit. Rexall is the latest Corporate sponsor of the former Northlands Coliseum. Long gone are the Stanley Cup Championship (5!) days with Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, etc. But ...

I've been to Commonwealth Stadium twice to cheer on the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League. It also helps to go with friends who know the rules of this "Longer - Wider - Faster" game. And it's a lot of fun! The Stadium itself is owned by the City of Edmonton and was built for the 1978 Commonwealth Games. ...

Awesome way to spend a good part of the day. Museum is amazing and has regular changing feature exhibits and special events, also adjacent to river valley trails. Has a great cafe but also walking distance to 124 Street shopping district with shops and restaurants. Check out the website http://www.royalalbertamuseum.ca/Popular withHistory

A year round indoor farmers' market that houses over 130 different vendors. Shops include various local vegetable/fruit vendors, local organic meat sellers, gourmet take home prepared foods, bakery goods, as well as various ethnic food vendors. My favorites include the Ukraine poppy seed bake goods, as well as the ever freshly popped kettle corn vendor right outside the market.

I like watching Canadian Football League (CFL) games and got my start watching the old Sacramento Gold Miners. Players such as Doug Flutie and Jeff Garcia have come out the CFL. The game is longer, wider, and deeper than the NFL and the rule differences (like only 3 downs, 12 men on the field, and different kicking strategies) do take ...

Elk Island is a small Canadian National Park a short drive east of Edmonton off the Yellowhead Highway (#16). This park is often overlooked in favour of it's Jasper counterpart further west in the mountains. Elk Island is one of four national parks that represent the Southern Boreal Plains and Plateau natural region. It protects a portion of the transitional ...Popular withOutdoorLocalHistory

This is a historical site right next to the University of Alberta. It was the home of the first Premier of Alberta, Alexander Rutherford after he was Premier. The house is set up the same way as when the Rutherfords lived there, with a lot of actual items that belonged to the family. Make sure to follow the self-guided tour ...Popular withFamiliesLocalHistory
