It's only a quick 45 minute flight from Aswan (or 3hrs by car) to reach this ancient wonder. While I was there I was amazed to learn that this isn't the original site of the temple. In the late 60's it was carved up into large stone blocks (you can see the seems if you look closely) and moved to ...

I didn't love Cairo, but Luxor delivered on what I was hoping for from a trip to Egypt. The town itself is quiet and beautiful - nestled on the banks of the Nile. And the Valley of the Kings is pretty amazing!

One of the best places to snorkle. The town is just build for tourists, so that´s not very attractive, but the see! lovely corrals and thousands of coloured fish.

Alexandria is right on the water and the home of quite a bit of history, including the ancient library (no longer there) and the Lighthouse, one of the Seven Ancient Wonders. There's good diving, too, but I didn't get a chance to do that.

Make no mistake, the pyramids and the Oberio here are fantastic. That said, Giza itself is a mess -- dirty and filled with touts. You need to watch your back a bit but, for the most part, the annoyances here are harmless humans and traffic.

From September to May organised trips on ...

Dahab is an amazing dive spot and a very laid back town. Not nearly as glitzy as Sharm el Sheik, but very relaxed and friendly. If you are into diving, the dive shops here are very good - I got my advanced certification and all the dive masters were Aussies. Definitely ask to dive the blue hole - it is ...

It is a peninsula and features 5 hotels in the 4-5 star category (La Résidence des Cascades for golfers, Kempinski&Sheraton for high-level holidaymakers, Robinson Club for families and a water sports lodge called The Breakers for sports people who like to chill in a ...

After time in Dubai, El Gouna was a breath of fresh air. Very comfortable and nice, but with a remote feel. I was impressed with the beer bottling plant, as well as the lush gardens. I didn't get a chance to go diving, but would love to return to take advantage of the water.

This was a stop on our cruise for some reason but I am not sure what. This is a port on the Suez although most of the boats bypass this entrance due to a faster cut-off to the Mediterranean. We walked around with nothing much to see. The beach area was quite dirty and rundown. The downtown area had far ...

In the Sinai region of Egypt and a few hours away from the Israel border, this is a truly breathtaking area of the country. It's an area this author hesitated even writing about due to how one of kind this area is. Far less developed than Dahab, it has a unique charm that will convince you to stay far longer ...
