    Egyptian Museum

    Tahrir Square, Cairo Egypt
    4.5
    89 reviews

One of my favourite museums in the world just because of the way it is. Some absolute masterpieces of one of the world's greatest civilisations. And yes, there's King Tut's death mask too. Two tips: come at around 4pm and miss the coach parties; and, ignore the men outside who as you approach the building will tell you it's closed ...

    Great Pyramid of Khufu

    Giza Plateau, Giza 12561 Egypt
    4.5
    49 reviews

Amazing visually. It's not as mystical as it's portrayed in the movies because it's right by the city and there are plenty of sales people trying to get you to buy stuff or rent their camels. Some are nicer than others. Some renters don't worry too much about your safety. You can't climb the pyramids since they're guarded by military ...

    Karnak Temple

    5
    31 reviews

One of the first sights you will see when you visit Luxor. Easily accessible from town and very impressive. Relatively manageable but you'll want to seek out shade during the midday heat. A guided tour is a helpful way to understand what it was like originally and how it was used.

    Al Azhar Park

Salah Salem Street, Cairo 11562 Egypt
    4.5
    23 reviews

There's basically no green space in Cairo that's not a private club--and in a way, this park is private too, because it charges admission. But it's less exclusive than other green spots, and it has a beautiful view across medieval Cairo. It's a great place to hang out and people-watch--families come here with picnics and kids hang out and flirt ...

    Islamic Cairo

    Cairo Egypt
    4.5
    22 reviews

The residential areas of this part of Cairo are a beautiful place to be lost during the call to prayer. Run down and might make some people nervous but the atmosphere is fantastic and the people were very friendly during my visit.

    The Citadel

    Salah Salem Highway, Cairo Egypt
    4.5
    25 reviews

A must see in Cairo and not far from the other sights of the Islamic part of town. A complex consisting of a couple of mosques, including Mohammed Ali. We hated the Citadel view restaurant... which for some reason seems to be linked to this same entry. Not sure why.

    Tahrir Square

    3.5
    36 reviews

So this is where it all happened: the daily protests which eventually led to the Lotus Revolution, a key moment in the Arab Spring of 2011. The square itself speaks more to the echoes of dictatorship than the bustling, cosmopolitan metropolis Cairo is. Though there is the gem of the Egyptian Museum at one end. At the time of writing, ...

    Pyramids of Saqqara

    North Saqqara, Cairo Egypt
    4
    23 reviews

My ex-fiance worked at an elementary school in Ma'adi (an uncharacteristically green suburb in Cairo) called Saqqara so we had to go to the Step Pyramid of Saqqara for that reason alone but once we were there, I felt like I had stepped onto the set of 'Star Gate.' The crowds in Giza are nowhere to be found so the ...

    Cairo Tower

    Cairo, Cairo Governorate, Egypt
    4
    23 reviews

The entrance has 2 fees, one for local and other for foreigners. Tower inside was quite dirty and I didn't dare to drink or eat on the coffee shop at the top. The view from the top is interesting, but the town is in brawn sands fog and this makes it not exciting as well the houses are in this ...

Sound & Light Show at the Pyramids of Giza

    Giza Pyramids Plateau, Giza Egypt
    4.5
    15 reviews

I think if you were to choose seeing the pyramids during the day or at night, the sound and light show at night would be the way to go. At this time, the crowds are less hectic, the hagglers aren't as aggressive, and you can still see the pyramids well enough to get the gyst of how incredible they are. ...

    El Hussein Mosque

    El-Hussein Square, Cairo Egypt

    10 reviews

I like this place very much. Incredible mix of sounds, colors, tastes and smells. There you will have wide range of street cafes to eat tasty kebab or grilled pigeons, sit drinking real Arabic coffee, you can buy fresh fruits just in street as well. Don't forget to choose some oriental souvenirs or some talismans for luck ;)
