    Pyramids of Giza

    4.5
    142 reviews

A wonder of the world. The touts surrounding it may drive you crazy but hard to walk away from the pyramids without being incredibly impressed. Note: tickets are required go inside the pyramids themselves. Be sure to check in advance so that you know when to line up and where. Don't buy anything from the guys on the street and ...

    Egyptian Museum

    4.5
    90 reviews

One of the best museums in the world. What the Egyptian Museum lacks in lighting, display, and explanatory text, it makes up for fully with the sheer volume and quality of items on display. The King Tut exhibit is the highlight but be sure to budget plenty of time. I hate guided tours but would consider one here.

I visited Tahrir Square almost exactly two years before the Arab Spring. Wish I could go back to see what it's like now!

    Great Pyramid of Khufu

    4.5
    49 reviews

The largest of the pyramids in Giza. You may purchase a ticket and crawl your way inside into the King's Chamber. The experience is hot and it is pretty impossible not to have claustrophobia here. Very memorable but crawling inside requires some stamina. The highlight of the pyramid is the view you get of it from outside.

Full of atmosphere. A must visit if you are in Cairo. Can be a bit chaotic but that is part of the fun.

    Karnak Temple

    31 reviews

One of the first sights you will see when you visit Luxor. Easily accessible from town and very impressive. Relatively manageable but you'll want to seek out shade during the midday heat. A guided tour is a helpful way to understand what it was like originally and how it was used.

    The Citadel

    4.5
    25 reviews

A must see in Cairo and not far from the other sights of the Islamic part of town. A complex consisting of a couple of mosques, including Mohammed Ali. We hated the Citadel view restaurant... which for some reason seems to be linked to this same entry. Not sure why.

    Al Azhar Park

    4.5
    23 reviews

    Islamic Cairo

    4.5

The residential areas of this part of Cairo are a beautiful place to be lost during the call to prayer. Run down and might make some people nervous but the atmosphere is fantastic and the people were very friendly during my visit.

    Cairo Tower

Shubha Mudgal is performing today @ the Cairo Opera House. Unexpectedly reasonably priced tickets & even far more unexpected international choice of performances. A hidden gem. And I can't wait to experience some of the wonderful artistic line-ups. The tower unlike most other City Eyes Seems like a carved minaret of a mosque. Both are must visits. The Opera is ...

    Valley of the Kings

    4.5
    13 reviews

This stunning collection of tombs is one of the most impressive archaeological sights that I have visited. Most tourists do a quick day visit and then leave. I'd highly recommend a minimum of 2 days so that you can see things leisurely without feeling too rushed. A guide can be very helpful -- especially at keeping the touts away.

    Mount Sinai

    13 reviews

The hike to the top of Mt. Sinai for sunrise is spectacular and was a highlight of my trip to the Sinai. Try to get a start before the St. Catherine's Monastery crowd -- this will ensure you get a nice spot at the top for the view. The hike up is stunning -- camels, candle light, stars, and cobblestones. ...

    El Hussein Mosque

I like this place very much. Incredible mix of sounds, colors, tastes and smells. There you will have wide range of street cafes to eat tasty kebab or grilled pigeons, sit drinking real Arabic coffee, you can buy fresh fruits just in street as well. Don't forget to choose some oriental souvenirs or some talismans for luck ;)

Bibliotheca Alexandrina - The New Library of Alexandria

    4.5

Not a whole lot to see, though the Sadat display was particularly interesting. The inside of the library itself is quite impressive, though you can visit in ~15 mins. Highlight was the cafe across the street right on the shoreline..... excellent shisha and views
