El Balcon del Zocalo

Zocalo

This rooftop terrace restaurant in the Holiday Inn Zócalo has possibly the best views in the city. The breakfast table groans under the load of the ample buffet, and there's a nice lady to prepare eggs al gusto. Hummingbirds (or possibly dragonflies) hover nearby, lending to the peaceful atmosphere. The food is average but more than compensated for by the ...

Just got back from Mexico City where I stayed at the Hampton Inn. The Hotel is perfectly located just a couple of blocks from the Zocalo. Reasonably priced, it has a business center, a gym, nice breakfast... all in all quite good. What really makes it different is its staff: always available, smiling and helpful. I strongly recommend it.

If you’re looking for a sustainability-minded hotel near the zocalo, NH Centro Historico is definitely worth considering. The 6-year-old hotel is part of the NH Hoteles group, which – according to a 2011 report -- reduced the carbon footprint of its rooms by 40 percent since 2008 while cutting its energy consumption, water use and its landfill waste and switching ...

I hope I look as good as the Best Western Majestic when I'm 475 years old. That's the age (according to one hotel employee) of this hotel, which may have the best location in Mexico City. Many of the rooms face the zócalo, or main square, looking across the vast plaza at the presidential palace. The building has some exquisite ...

Located just a short walk from El Zócalo, Grupo Habita have taken over the UNESCO World Heritage site Palacio de los Condes de Miravalle and pulled off an absolute masterpiece in pairing cutting edge contemporary design with the original and quite splendid original colonial features. It helps if you think of the Hotel Isabel as a hostel, because it doesn't quite cut the mustard as a hotel, in my opinion. But, if you consider it a hostel, it's a cheap, clean place to stay in the heart of Mexico City. Some rooms have private bathrooms, but several do not, so make sure you ask when ...

The W Mexico City is a really hip hotel in a beautiful neighborhood of Mexico City. Our room was spacious with a sophisticated decor. One of my favorite features was the unusual layout of the shower - in front of the large floor to ceiling window. And it had a hammock in it! A little gimmicky but cool. The staff ...

I can't pretend I understand the naming strategy used by the Room Mate hotel chain -- there's something slightly tawdry about the name Room Mate Valentina -- but this place in the heart of the rocking Zona Rosa is just about as hip as it gets. Splashes of color adorn the otherwise white decor of the lobby and minimalist-chic rooms, ...

Stuck in a row of towering monolithic hotels, this Marriott manages to feel much smaller than it is.
