Beautiful balcony views in a fantastically furnished room. Excellent pizza at the outside bar that served wonderful mojitos . Enjoyed taking the ferry out to the private beach and hanging out on the chairs with a beautiful view back to the main island. Felt very pampered during the whole stay.

When visiting PR which is not often unfortunately, I Always stay here for at least 1 or 2 nights for a couple of reasons. One, it has a private island where the water is crystal clear and calm. Second, the hotel is far from the busy city of San Juan. Third, the rooms are up-to-date modernly designed and clean. The service throughout the hotel is great also.
After my stay here and I'm fully energize, I go on to explore the Beautiful island.

Puerto Rico is a busy island but this place has found an idyllic spot.
You get to San Juan International Airport (SJU) and the hotel car meets you (if you arrainge in advance) You can also go the airport PUBLICO TAXI stand and find a Fajardo car. It's a nice hour drive with the El Ynnque Rain Forest on your right and Luquillo and other beaches on your left. Turn off the highway (65th Infantry Hgy.) and follow on through some small fishing villages and up on a cliff. Facing an archepelego of Puerto Rican islands, US Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands, the hotel has all nice view rooms with antique Spanich tapestry bed covers. The swanky dining room and Cocktail lounge are at the end of a breezeway on a raised part of the cliff. This building looks down over the quaint fishing village of Las Croabas with mostly native craft boats. There are also several GREAT native seafood restaurants nearby.
For this reason, I would take the hotel's EP plan that includes breakfast. Then you'll have the opportunity to have lobster pasteles, arroz con Pollo, tostones, platanos maduros, mofongo and the many other unique delicacies of traditional Puerto Rican cooking. There is also a private cove below El Conquistador with an alpine (no kidding) gondola from the pool deck down 300 feet on the ocean. It's a sweet little bech with water toys, rental sailboats, and (if the Hotel's not too busy) an honor bar where you mix your own drinks alongside a stash of free snacks
Fun sidetips are to the World-reknown Luquillo Beach (don't go on weekends, very crowded), El Yunque Rain Forest (look for the old lady th sells lobster pasteles by the side of the road near the top. Young couples often vivit her a few days before their weddings for good luck.
Old San Juan is not far and publics even go right down to Fortaleza St.
There is great shopping. (they're BIG into baby clothes, Grandma.) Also fine little restaurants and two huge Colonial Era fortresses to explore.
At days end, El Conquistador is quiet, and up there in the Trade Winds.
Especially nice is to watch the sunrise behind, Virgin Gorda, Tortola, St. John, St. Thomas, Culebra and the little Palimino islands just off Puerto Rico. Lunch trips are available to many of these lush, tiny islands, mostly unpopulated and the ocean is WARM and turqoise.

It really Feels like you are staying in a James Bond Movie while here (Scenes from Goldfinger were filmed on location). Great rooms, Great pools and a shuttle to your own private island. It doesnt get much better than this. Only two negatives, one it is isolated if you dont have a rental car, and can be a bit pricy onsite. So shorten your stay, Bond always checked out early anyway.
