I ended up checking out early but not because of this hostel, but rather I didnt like Punta del Diablo very much. The hostel itself is great. It looks like a bed and breakfast and they have a variety of different room types that attract a large range of guests. The hostel seems like it is family run and the staff is extremely friendly. I was in a room that was not occupied by anyone else, but it had 4 bunks. There was a bathroom in the room that was small, but clean and the hostel seemed very safe. My favorite part of the hostel were the balconies that they had and the pool area. Punta Diablo is quite a small place and they only have a handful of hostel options. Some of the more popular ones get booked quickly, but this one has a lot of space so you dont need to make advance reservations.

It may not be Uruguay's best kept secret anymore (that secret got out in the last few years since the hostel appeared) but El Diablo Tranquilo boasts one of the most unique atmospheres, outgoing staff as well as prime location on Playa del Rivero. A must for bohemian backpackers to techy travelers looking for dorms or private suites. I had so much fun, I'm still here!Recommended for:Backpackers
