Honestly, this is a nice hotel. Let's get that out of the way. But it's not an amazing hotel. Let's also get that out of the way. Having said that, I found this relatively generic place to have a lot of charm to it. For one, it's far more interesting on the inside than on the outside.

As soon as you walk in you realize that this is actually a hollow tower with rooms that face outside and inside the building, and at the bottom floor (which is below ground level) is a nice courtyard with a fountain, lots of seating, and a bar/lounge/restaurant. Your room is a glad elevator ride up, and somehow the novelty of that rarely seems to fade.

But then there's the backyard (so to speak), which isn't highly advertised. Sneak out there and you'll find a nice little patio with a surprisingly beautiful natural landscape. Grass, trees, and a small creek completely obscure the fact that you're right in the middle of one of the most populated places in the world. To me, it's worth the stay just so you can have that little communion with nature.

The name of this property can be a little misleading. While definitely within proximity of Dallas Love Field airport, it's a little farther way than what I'd categorize as an airport hotel. Sandwiched between two business towers, the unassuming Embassy Suites gives a nice, strictly-business first impression. But as soon as you walk inside you're transported back to the 80s. Though everything is carefully maintained, the hotel is in dire need of an update. There's plenty of meeting space, the fitness center is well-quipped and the indoor pool is one of the nicer ones I've seen, I couldn't get past how outdated everything looked. Call me biased. Still, I enjoyed a nice Ketel and tonic at the Belmont's Lounge and checked out the grounds that included a jogging trail, a small pond/water feature and beach volleyball. Free breakfast, and beer and wine happy hour are par for the course.
