This is a big Embassy Suites, with soaring ceilings in the lobby. The suites have a separate living area, a refrigerator and microwave. There's a convenient gift shop and a few computer stations in the lobby. Pleasant indoor pool, which was quiet when I visited. Didn't get to the gym.
The hotel is near the convention center and the business district, and appears to have a work crowd during the week. But I find the Embassy Suites chain so convenient with children -- not a bad idea for families on the weekend.Recommended for:

The only thing I could think of when I walked in to the lobby for the first time was that it felt like standing at a train station. A giant clock hung overhead to my left and lots of people were bustling through the lobby area and to the restaurant on my right.
Not that that's a bad thing, it just has a very different look to it. The rooms are nice and big, as you might expect, with enough kitchen amenities to cook yourself a frozen meal or reheat some leftovers if you're in town for awhile. I appreciated the extra space, and also the nice amenities throughout the hotel.
They have a sizable pool, which is great, and fitness center that is as big as any I've ever seen. They're also right in the heart of downtown Washington, so getting around is no problem at all whether you're catching a cab or heading to a metro, and there's plenty of good food, culture and nightlife around if that's what you're in town for. All in, there's really nothing about this place that I wasn't impressed by.Recommended for:
