We stayed at Erakor Island to attend our
friend's wedding. We arrived on Thursday late afternoon and
left very early Monday morning, so a total of four nights and 3.5 days. Erakor Island is a very short 5min ferry ride from Port a vila where the Ferry transfers passengers to and from the Island anytime free of charge. Staying at Erakor offered a combination of luxury comfort coupled with a taste of Vanuatu tropical authenticity. The bungalow we stayed in is amongst the tropical bushes, coconut trees and literally within 1 meter away from the beach. There is no air conditioning but there is a fly screen which allowed fresh sea breeze in as well as fan attached on the roof so we never felt too hot. There isn't any television in the room but I'm guessing is to fully encourage visitors to experience the Island and be active. However there is a mini-fridge which kept out water bottles and drinks nice and cold. The staff are very friendly and ready to help out. We had an amazingly enjoyable time doing water sports such as Kayaking, snorkelling and lots of sunset swimming. The water sports equipment hire were free for guests which is so convinient. We explored the Island via kayaking and bush walking. We came in a low season so it was relatively quiet but so lucky with the great weather. We booked a Chef's Sunset romantic Dinner by the beach for our last night and had their coconut crab and it was very special. So if you want the ideal tropical holiday to slow down time and fully appreciate your environment and immerse in relaxation cannot recommend Erakor Island enough.
