Meat lovers will definitely like this place. If you are familiar with the "Brazilian churrasco" - a all you can eat meat paradise, you need to go to Espetus. They have a great selection of meat and the salad bar is amazing.
Service is also great and they are really organized. Make sure to reserve a table so you don't have to wait a lot for a table, specially cause people take a while to try all the different meats.
In my opinion Espetus San Mateo is nicer then the one in SF, the San Mateo place is bigger and everything else is better (from food to service and parking), definitely worth a visit.

One word to describe this Brazilian restaurant: Delicious!
It is a great place for a group get together.
The juicy yummy meat kept on coming. My favorite were the beefs and the Parmesan pork! Yummmmy. The side dishes are also very good and the waiters are super nice.
I gave it 4 stars just because the toilets had no trash cans ... Weird! Only a basket for used paper but not trash cans in the restrooms themselves.
We had lunch there which was cheaper than dinner.
Tu sum up, it was great food and I will go back there!

When I went to Espetus, it was the first time that I had tried a churrascaria. While I'd recommend saving the space for the delicious meat samplings, they have a pretty legit salad bar. They've got delicious drinks. Oh yeah, and they've got good meat. Having done other all you can eat adventures, I thought it would be a simple feat to tackle the all you can eat meat. I was wrong. This place defeated me. Yet, somehow, I don't know if I'd have it any other way.

The boys love their meat, and so, when this place opened right by our house, we bookmarked it and knew that the visit would not be far behind.
Came here with our favorite neighbors/friends for our annual August celebration (yup, last August, I know, I'm a little backlogged with my reviews). The reviews seem positive, and Espetus in the city has always had a good name as well.
But, I guess maybe we were expecting a bit too much... It turned out to be, just ok. The caipirinha was not strong enough, and the meats, well, if you got the crust bits, it was very salty, and if u got the non crust bits, there's little flavor. They didn't re-roast/re-season like I've seen at other places to give every piece equal flavor, yet, their meats were all medium well to done. What's up with that?
The chicken hearts were amazing though.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate the place, just didn't love it. I may give it another try one of these days when I'm craving massive amounts of meat.

Brazil in San Mateo as I would say. I have originally tried the Espetus on Market street in San Francisco and happy to see that they opened one close bo home in San Mateo. Lunch buffet was about $35 per person.

I actually like this place quite a bit. Parking is open, and there isn't a problem with coming to the restaurant when it's too crowded. The meat was cooked very well. It's worth the 55$ if your hungry and looking just to eat meat. I would not load up on the sides, and go straight to the meat.

Hearty meal with lots of meat but I can't help to think it was overpriced. If you really care about the quality of the meat you are probably going to be disappointed. A lot of the cut were dry. Unless you can get a inner slice of meat, most are too well done. Nothing really impressed me except the cheese bread, the chicken heart and the grilled pineapple.
I was not happy with the quality of service either. I told our server we were celebrating a birthday but they have done nothing. No birthday song. No candle on the dessert. Nothing. Perhaps it just slipped their mind but I had never had this happened at other restaurants. Of course, I didn't realize they forgot about it until they bring out the dessert. There was really no point in reminding them.
They did have a very impressive dessert menu. One of the most extensive one I have seen and the dessert was good. However, I am still bitter with my experience and probably won't return anytime soon.
