Avenida Grecia, Santiago, Chile

The largest stadium in Chile, housing 46,000 and part of a massive 62 hectare sporting complex (which includes an aquatics center, tennis courts, a BMX track, and a velodrome), the Estadio Nacional is a pride of Santiago. Constructed in 1937, the stadium is full of history, having hosted Michael Jackson, U2, Iron Maiden, Britney Spears, and a FIFA World Cup. It was renovated and totally modernized in 2009 and now features a state-of-the-art scoreboard, as well as other modern amenities. A national monument, its facade was not changed in the renovation, and remains an icon of Chile.
