Not as consistent surf as Hermosa nearby, but if you want the 'beach to yourself' feeling, this is the place to be.

Being from San Diego, California and used to white beaches, we're really disappointed on coming here because we feel our beaches are better. There's not a whole lot of selection on food besides casados. We most likely won't come back here again.

Playa Hermosa is a beach break paradise for big wave loving surfers. It is quiet, safe and beautiful with a variety of lodging options from luxury to backpacker-style hostels. This is the place to stay if you don't want to be in the middle of party town, but don't want to be too far away either. Jaco is just a ...

Los Suenos is a great family get-away on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Beautiful beach access, great restaurants, and zip line canopy tours make this a great vacation destination. Plus, Manuel Antonio Park is only an hour away.

Close to Jaco, this little town is where the Tarcoles river is and that is where the crocodile tours are. We paid $69 each person to go on the Crocodile tour and even though it was cool to see our boat driver stand a foot away from a crocodile to feed it, we didn't feel that was worth $69. Amazingly ...

This was a great place to spot wildlife with really easy hiking trails. I was recovering from a broken ankle but also wanted to get out into the forest and use my new camera lens for some wildlife shots and this place delivered! It's just a short drive from Jaco. While there, we saw capuchin monkeys, scarlet macaws, coatis, and ...

San Jose is one of the youngest capitals in Latin America, and quite frankly with not a lot to offer. It does have some beautiful historical architecture, but it is also very commercial. Unfortunately, not the safest either, at least in terms of theft.

This was my favorite beach in Costa Rica! It is a protected cove with warm water, and tons of wildlife. I saw sloths hanging from trees, and white-faced monkeys tried to steal my food. This is where I imagine Peter Pan and his Lost Boys might drop anchor.

Beautiful little beach town with a cool vibe and great beaches BUT be careful I had two different friends robbed after going out one night in the town. There is a hostel on the beach, I'm sorry I don't remember the name, that was known around CR for backpackers getting robbed while they slept.

Christmas Eve, 2011 I'm writing poolside at our hotel in Costa Rica. I've been here a week and I'm not certain it has still sunk in yet that I'm on vacation in a foreign country, a gorgeous country at that. I'm drinking the local beer - Imperial. The chaise lounge I'm on is facing east towards the pool complete with ...

Good Surf, great local community too. I ended up staying here for 6 months when I thought it was only going to be 2 weeks. Swing by Jazzy's River cafe and play some music with the locals.

You will be forgiven for not hearing about this small town in Costa Rica. In fact you will be forgiven for only being able to find minimal information about this district in the province of Alajuela. You will even be forgiven for not knowing that it is located in Alajuela mountain range, and is one of the most scenic places ...

One of the best beaches in the world for surfing. Just spent the morning learning stand up paddle boarding.
