Gerard Street is hectic Chinatown, so you’ll be pleased to find the ECC’s shabby chic black door with the wash of red paint. It certainly isn't obvious, and from the outside certainly doesn’t look like London’s hottest new hangout. Set over 2 stories of a townhouse, with good beats in the background, the vibe is super laid back Parisian cool.
The owners are very French, and very hot. They already run 3 of Paris’s best bars, so decided to get on the Euro* and mob up London.
The cocktails are exquisite and unusual. If you can’t choose yourself, let Vincent choose for you. He made BarChick weak at the knees with an ‘Opium Express’. Absinthe based 'Turf War' was excellent too - and as for the vintage cocktails? Very spendy - hundred and fifty quid - but how often do you get to try Gin from the 1950s?
As it's French, of course there's food. BarChick soaked up the booze with some very decent charcuterie and fromage. With a 3am license, and a 5am licence in the pipeline, there’s a sweet smell of naughtiness in the room, but done in a wonderfully chic way…
Just remember these guys are French, they won't mean to be rude. Dress a little sexier, and turn up early, or book ahead, they have been known to send you home if they don't like the look of you. C'est la vie...

I had heard a lot talking about this hidden gem in Chinatown before I got a chance to finally try it. It is wedged between Chinese restaurants and if you don't know where you are going, you will surely miss it. The bar is upstairs in a quite simply decorated space. I like the tall ceiling but the space still manges to feel quite cozy. The bartenders are quite friendly and cool. However, I wish they would be a bit more creative and modify the recipe of their set cocktails on the list. However, I guess those recipes are tried and true. I ordered a champagne cocktail that was quite yummy. Definitely a fun spot for a drink before heading out for dinner.

When you walk through the unmarked door (if you get past the doormen) on a grotty street in the middle of Chinatown, you'll feel like you've entered a different world. Dripping with Parisian-style glamour and decadence with velvet booths and a soft glow, you can forget the real world. Cocktails are done with precision and if you want to show off you can order the vintage martini at a mere £150 a pop.
