Fairbanks is the city of Aurora Borealis. From late August to April, you have the chance to see these great shimmering lights. Fairbanks is also a central location for winter adventures, not only in the city, but also as far as the Denali National Park and the Arctic. The great wilderness is right on their doorstep. As the host of the Yukon Quest (the 1,000 mile international sled dog race), the city brims with excitement in February. Also in February is the BP World Ice Art Championships, where world-famous ice sculptutors showcase their talent.

Fairbanks has a university and an Army base, then lots of wilderness. It's the last big place you'll hit on the highway before we get into remote northern Alaska. When I was running there I thought the mosquitos would suck all the blood out of me.

Alaska is the craziest place you ever want to go. Iwent to Delta Junction first and fell in love with the place and the people. In summer it is light all the time and the lushness green of the place is just beautiful Winter is dark all the time but the northen lights are just fantastic to look at. plus seeing as it is small country roads the trees on both sides meet in the middle and the snow on top of these trees with the lights comming down on them is magical. better than any light show in the big city. Loved it so much stayed for six months.night life never ceases. bars never close. lots of game food to eat. even in restauranta they will serve you moose or what ever is in season. just great loved it.
