The Farifield Inn & Suites is located pretty close to Michigan Ave., but it’s pretty surprising how quiet the street was on a Sunday evening. It’s nice to know that you’re nearby pretty much everything, but you can also coma back to crash in a quiet location. The other thing that I immediately recall is the “patio” setup found out front, which is basically some modern patio furniture that lends itself well to hanging out and people-watching. I would probably take advantage of this for a few minutes in the summer, but it’s not much use in the winter. I also liked the ticker display behind the front desk. I’m not sure that it actually is very useful, but I though it looked pretty cool.

This hotel is nice, but nothing remarkable. The lobby, with its modern furniture, 70s-era color changing light displays and Wonderland-esque black and white floor tiles felt a bit over the top and confused. Up in the rooms, things are a bit more calm, with minimal furniture and a warm palette of whites and oranges. It's a decent option for travelers looking for a comfortable place to crash downtown, but if you're looking for a trendy design hotel or a luxe experience, this isn't it.

This is a really nice hotel, newly updated and decorated. I especially like the bright orange accents in the guest rooms. The lobby is a little flashy, but the rooms are warm and relaxing.

I love the outdoor seating at the front entrance, though I didn't have the chance to use it when I visited in the dead of winter. There's free breakfast and free wifi, and at your request, they'll bring a fridge and a microwave to your room if you don't feel like eating out. The staff was quite welcoming and friendly, as well.

I really loved everything about this hotel. The exterior is lush with trees that pop against the building's red and brown bricks. The lobby area was unlike anything I'd ever seen with green, glowing lights casting a green tint across the white walls and floor-to-ceiling curtains. Old-fashioned chairs are given a modern makeover in cool blue and navy while the floral carpeting keeps the whole thing from feeling too stiff.

In bright oranges, reds and yellows, the bedrooms give a bright and summery ambiance--especially in thanks to the framed flower pictures and orange-trimmed lamps. The bathrooms are quite small, but still leave enough room for a shower/tub combination.

Free Wifi and breakfast are included and breakfast is served in a large, sunny room that also features bright yellows and oranges just like the bedrooms. Perfect way to start the day!

The staff really cares about your experience, it feels like. Maybe it's all the bright colors, but this is one of the most inviting hotels I've been in. The hotel is located blocks away from everything, the mag mile, hundreds of great restaurants, but it feels like its own private corner. They'll remind you that you're also in fast food mecca: Chipotle is here. So is Epic Burger. You've got a Potbellies. The staff has a list of their personal favorite places, if you need it. I was reminded too, when I asked about fitness, that the lake is right here. Walking, running, or biking the lakefront path along Lake Michigan is the best free activity you can do in the city. It makes it easier to walk off the Epic Burger.

Nice hotel downtown Chicago. No pool, no continental breakfast, which are usually big draws for me. The staff let us do a champagne toast in the lobby with our group, which was awesome.

Nice new lobby, good location but the rooms need a makeover. The rooms are something out of the 70's.
