My favorite part of Quebec City. An absolutely beautiful piece of architecture - so luxurious and grandeur! I did not take the opportunity to stay at the Chateau, however walked inside and out to the back where there is a Starbucks, allowing you to exit to face the St. Lawrence river. The lobby was exquisite and absolutely luxurious! Next time I find myself in Quebec City, I will absolutely splurge on a nights stay!

They have a beautiful, open outdoor bar area, Bar St. Laurent, where you can go and enjoy drinks and fabulous views of the river. Although you have to enter the hotel to get to the lounge, you don't have to be staying there to enjoy the atmosphere. Eric Clapton, or his look alike, was out on the deck when we went. Super, super cool place. Very romantic.

Even though it is an extremely expensive place to stay or even eat, it truly is not something to be missed. A tour of the building is a wonderful way to see how incredible it truly is. If you do get the chance though it is worth the splurging on one meal to eat there.

Aside from its breathtaking beauty from the outside, this historic hotel has been meticulously renovated. Each room I've stayed in over the years has been different and interesting with a view of either the St. Lawrence river or Old city. The biggest thrill after exploring all the ballroom halls and grand stairways is taking dinner in the Champlain Room. This dining experience shouldn't be rushed because the care and attention you'll receive here is one of a kind. Before television channels exploded with celebrity chefs, the Frontenac has had guests satisfied with the knowledge that they had gourmet meals with the finest of local and international ingredients. Take a moment to read about the famous guests and conferences while you imagine yourself walking in their footsteps. If you can take in a New Years grand ballroom celebration you'll not only get a gourmet dinner but some of the best orchestras have entertained as you dance into the night. Breakfast and lunch in the Terrace Restaurant buffet is always worth it's price with good people-watching on the Duffern Terrace. There is so much more to say about this lovely hotel, but I encourage you to discover its charms one day by yourself.

This hotel stay is all about the prestige and bragging rights. Sure, I can now say that I stayed at the famous Chateau Frontenac but lets get down to brass tacks; the food - meh; certainly nothing to write home about or remember, for that matter.. The amenities - nothing out of the ordinary. The service staff were wonderful but nothing justifies those prices. It's more like a 3 1/2 star hotel passing as a 5 star due to its history. I enjoyed it all the more for not having had to pay the bill. And sure, I'd go back, so long as it was on somebody else's dime.

Went in January a few years ago and had a great experience. This is truly a grand old hotel, which when combined with the Fairmont service made for a very nice stay. The bar is just the place to hide out on a snowy, windy day (by then it had warmed up to about -3 C - temps were at -28 C when we arrived). The location can't be beat, and there are views of the city, river, and old city walls in all directions.
