One of the best ski resorts in Colorado. The skiing itself is fantastic and even if you don't want to ski there's plenty to do. Vail Village is full of shops and great places to eat and if you want to get out and do some hiking or dog sledding all of that is available as well.

Black Hawk didn't have much in the way of gold back in the 19th Century. What it had was running water and relative accessibility compared with Central City, where the nuggets were coming out of the ground. Today's Black Hawk is known for its many casinos, particularly the towering Ameristar.
