There is a section for everything - make your own muppet, the world of Harry Potter, dress-up clothes, lego, learning toys, barbies and so much more! Could spend hours here and I've never left without buying something.

F.A.O. Schwarz stands for Frederick August Otto Schwarz. The chain was founded in 1862 an is one of the oldest in the USA. As soon as you walk in, you can see an original handwritten sales ledger from the early days.
There are now several sections of this store. Downstairs is FAO Schweets for candy, Upstairs, Midtown Comics has a section complete with superhero photo opportunities. There is a Lego section, Disney Art, as well as an Uglydoll Uglyshop.
This store will keep one busy for a while. Just try to avoid it on the weekends when it is overrun from tourists.
Also, try to get a fortune from Zoltar and dance on the giant piano.

You have to stop here at Christmas time. That's when the best toys are out. You can play on the keyboard from the movie Big, and play with remote control exotic cars and stuff like that. It's a lot of fun.

To be a kid again! Walking in here instantly brings me back to the first time I walked into this store as a kid. The Lego section awed me back them and it still awes me today. Nostalgia makes me want to drop my bank account on Legos, muppets, and movie toys whenever I'm in here. Toys stores are still a joyful place even as an adult!

Ever watch the movie BIG with Tom Hanks when you were little? Remember the giant piano scene? Well that was filmed at FAO Schwarz and I have to say it's pretty awesome trying to recreate the song he did in the movie. FAO Schwarz is every big kid's dream come true. There are toys galore. Come in and become a kid again.
