So one night after hitting up the LA Auto Show I ended up here for my first trip. Well I was very happy checking this joint out!
Very kewl small bar down a hallway in the midst of a larger building... we went to the bar itself and had a couple quick hits... great prices very fun environment.
I need to get my ass back here so I can do a full review other than just that they had an awesome beer selection that I think rotates. They also have a full bar and lots o grub.
Who wants to join me to go back and just chill here for an hour or three??? but its also very close to a number of great lil restaurants in Japan town and great for a pre dinner beverage or an a post dinner treat...Recommended for:

yayyyy I finally checked out Far Bar!!!
Hidden bar/restaurant with mouthwatering stuff on the menu. Located between two buildings in little tokyo. You gotta walk through the narrow alley that leads you to a small cozy restaurant that's connected to the bar next door. Night time is the best time to come and enjoy the pretty christmas lights dangling above. The heater kept me warm.
I ordered the J-Town Empress (crown royal, peach schnapps, pineapple juice, lime juice), which was sweet and yummy. The cocktail was good but it didnt impress me. My bf seemed pretty happy with his super dark bitter beer that the sweet waitress recommended.
food: sweet potato fries with wasabi sauce. I don't like wasabi, but this was tolerable. The fries were great :)Recommended for:

Far Bar is a tricky little bar to find in little tokyo.
its literally squeezed between two brick buildings, don't fret if you can't seem to find it...just focus ur eyes on a big RED Flag that reads "Far Bar"
They have a wide selection of delicious drinks - one of my favorite for my viewing pleasure is their infamous Flaming Lamborghini shots ! It takes 2 bartender to do this job so one shot is about 30 bucks but its completely worth the show!
Sometimes the bartender will opt out on fixing you this shot because its just A lot of work to make one dang shot!
regardless i know i always have a fun time here!Recommended for:

Far Bar is a good casual bar in Downtown LA. On a busy night, it will be packed and not easy to get drinks at the bar. But once you get drinks, find a seat in the patio area where you can chill with friends under the moonlight and white lights zig-zagged above. Note: Dirty martini in a plastic cup...meh. Just get a beer instead.Recommended for:

Oh this place definitely has to be revisited!
5 of us turned up here on a Friday after having ramen in a place a little further down the street.
At first we took a seat inside the restaurant/bar until my friend remembered the outside seating. Outside is the place to be! Tables and chairs line a converted alley. Xmas lights and heat lamps create ambiance. Table service and beer flights top it off. I also sampled the brownie with ice cream, and in my professional opinion it's the perfect pairing with booze. The beer list was extensive. Come one. Come all

the coolest bar in town, stuck between two buildings, a modern day speakeasy. little tokyo is charming because of this bar. the chop suey cafe next door is a great venue to throw a private party. i myself have thrown a couple parties here and it's completey renovated now so it's even better! owners are really really chill.

nifty little bar, in Little Tokyo which is right in the heart of Los Angeles downtown. There are lots of Ramen joints in the area but this bar serves sushi. Great little place on the weekend nights where music be blastin' in the atmosphere. Lots of draft beers to choose from and the bartenders are cool.

Food here is general pretty interesting, they got washi fries. That's right is wasabi on it. I regret order the tacos which was just ok but not worth the price. Anyway here is more late night gathering after a meal isn't good idea to come here hungry.

Not sure what more I can say that's already been said by the other reviewers!
Gotta love the food, service and ambiance here. It's where I discovered my favorite drink: the Kir Royale. Ask for it - it's amazing!

Saturday Night review
You can almost missed the tiny entrance on 1st street here for the Far Bar. Look for alley entrance! Why is it call the Far Bar? Perhaps, it's because of the long alley or is it because it's filled with Hot Asians on Saturday night?! Who knows!
What I love most about this place is their ambiance...outdoors with plenty of heat lamps and seatings! They also have romantic bulbs lined above you that sets the mood, can anyone say date on a quiet night? Back to Saturday, the DJ was slaying some awesome 90s music out tonight! There's really no room to dance, but it was great to shimmy in my chair!
As for food and drink, here's my take:
Espresso Stout - If you're a Stout and Coffee lover, get it! It's really easy to drink, yum!
Shiitake Burger-Juicy, will make to order! Extra $2 will get you fries. If you like their wasabi fries, ask them to drizzle the sauce! I'm not a super fan of wasabi, so I'm not crazy over it. Ketchup please? :)
Can't wait to come back, till next time!
-Sunday Night Review-
What's best about Sunday besides the Happy Hour, it's quiet and chill here! Not exactly happening, but I love that you can meet a friend here and simply catch up!
Sunday/Monday all day
Tues - fri 3-7pm
$2 off Asahi, Kirin
$1 off all beer (Including my favorite Espresso Stout)
$2 off of liquor
HH burgers M-W $5 burgers
I would say the best night to come catch up with a friend is Monday with HH all day and a $5 steal with the burgers!

THE LOWDOWN==- Possibly the most popular hidden spot in Little Tokyo.
Friday bar hopping night, but ended up getting food after being hypnotized by other people's orders. The average sized bar area was not able to handle all the patrons. It was crowded beyond belief in that small room, about 3 deep. Funny though is that I don't remember it being muggy at all so kudos to that. Since it was so crowded at the bar, my group ended up taking a table outside, where we were serenaded by fun 80 90's hip hop. The waitresses were pretty busy running back and forth on this crowded night, but we got immediate service when we flagged for it. Burgers and fries clock in at under 10 bucks which is freaking amazing given the amount and quality of the food here.
-=- BLAT Burger -=- Bacon Lettuce Avocado Tomato. The BLAT Burger was bomb-diggity. Thick bun and tasty med rare meat. Bacon was thick cut with a maple-ish glaze. Avocado was thick cut as well and was equally dispersed in every bite. My burger came out cold, which was a bummer, but I'll be back anyway.
-=- Wasabi Fries -=- It's actually regular cut fries with a wasabi ranch dip. INTENSE wasabi ranch dip. Most would not be able to handle this, but to some of us champs, I was impressed by the preserved flavor of the dip through the wasabi kick.
-=- Expresso Stout -=- It was by a Japanese brewer, I think, from all the Japanese writing on it. It was sooo good that I had 2 of the same. It's thick and a bit sweet, but it's perfect for those looking for a filling beer without the bitter beer taste.
Again: under 10 bucks for burgers+fries, awesome ambiance, fun crowd, food open till 1am. WIN!
