The farmers market is great -- it's San Francisco, which values wellness and fresh food. Great for those who work or live nearby to grab some fresh produce on Thursdays. There's also quite a few food vendors here as well, so you can grab a bite to eat for lunch and try something new!

I always want to buy something here, but then, I usually come via BART and can't really take home all the tasty looking fruits and vegetables. But I could have a lunch of a fresh tamale, or maybe a falafel sandwich.

If you do not mind the crowds this is a great place to come to. Nice setting on the ocean and fresh local products to buy.

This Farmers Market is the largest I've ever been to and I squeal every time I go. The vibrant colors of the vegetables and flowers, the tasty sunsweet seasonal fruits, the mouth-watering food vendors - what's not to love?

I recommend it to ANY traveler visiting SF.

An awesome place to spend a sunday - great purveyors of organic fruits and vegetables from around the state, and lots of food stands where you can grab a great meal and take in a stunning view of the bay. Not great with small kids, as it gets pretty crowded, but fun without!

Nice place to walk around, but the prices are way too high for me to do any substantial shopping at this market.

Browse the gourmet food shops in the Marketplace of San Francisco’s Ferry Building, at the foot of Market Street on the Embarcadero. Go there on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday and you’ll catch the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market, acclaimed as one of the best in the country. It's free to spend time at the Ferry Building, but you probably won't be able to resist making some kind of fresh food purchase or meal. San Francisco City Guides (mentioned above in #2) offers a free tour of the Ferry Building that includes much historical and architectural information.

The farmers market takes place every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The Saturday market is an event, whereas the other two are much smaller. They are all fantastic.

Love the Farmer's Market on Thursdays!!

4505 meats - some of the best hamburgers ever
Tacolicious - how can you beat their tacos?!?
Scream Sorbet - please bring back white guava!!
Roli Roti - don't say you've been here unless you've tried their porchetta sandwich
Marshall Farm's Honey - try the bay area blend!

Drool...I can't wait for lunch again on Thursday!

A must experience if you're a tourist and an excellent spot to start the weekend for everyone. Lots of local organic farms represented and local food producers. This is definitely one way to seduce friends to move to San Francisco.

As if the Ferry Plaza wasn't amazing enough, add in one of the best farmers markets in the state and you have perfection. The best variety of the freshest fruit, vegetables and flowers I have ever seen.

The Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market is very similar to those in Europe. There's a variety of produce, fruits, cheeses that are more special and rarer to find than what's available at your typical grocery store. In addition, there are vendors that come out and also make a select few of their specialties. Hog Island does oysters and there are at least 3 or 4 restaurants that come out and cooks made-to-order dishes, especially on the weekends (they'll make fresh-to-order breakfasts such as omelettes, sandwiches, etc.). A great place for the local or tourist alike!

When the Farmers Market is here, that just makes the Ferry Plaza experience better. Go inside for prepackaged food items and prepared food, come outside for fresh-from-the-field options (and some smaller, less commercial prepared food opportunties).

There's lots more to do at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market than just buy produce. On a nice day it's a good stop on the way to a picnic.

Whenever a friend or relative comes to town, my first thought is to send them straightaway to the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. With excellent views of the Bay, a collection of some great foodie options and the chance to explore downtown further during the afternoon, it's the perfect start to the weekend.

Get a cup of Blue Bottle coffee from the stand outside or the store within. Another popular option are the chilaquiles from the Mexican stand out back, complete with perfectly cooked eggs, tortillas and an oh-so-tasty sauce.

And all you have to do is wake up in time. The Market gets a bit crowded as you pass noon—lines increase and food supplies diminish—so you'll want to aim to come around 10 to get the most of your day.

This place is definitely an awesome wine bar with a great vibe and good wine. It's always crowded because it's a fun place with great wine and small plates. Try to get there early to grab a spot because it fills up fast.
