There's a restaurant in the back of this store? Nice! Dig the original menus on the wall from like the 1950s. I got the combo plate which had lasagna and ravioli, with sausage and meatballs. All delicious. Pretty good cannoli too, but to be honest I expect a better cannolo from a spot in a Little Italy. (they got nothing on the Little Italy in Philly)Recommended for:

My favorite spot for pizza. It's right in the middle of Little Italy. There's an awesome Italian market in front. The restaurant is hidden in the back. But get there early, say around 5:00 to avoid the long line. But the line does go pretty fast so not to worry if there is one by the time you arrive. It's just so hard to wait staring at all the delicious market items while you're also smelling the aroma of home made pizzas baking in the kitchen.Recommended for:

Located right in the center of gorgeous Little Italy, Filippi's (family-owned) is a wonderful place to shop for Italian goods or for a bite to eat. It is a market/butcher-shop up front and the restaurant is tucked behind. The restaurant usually has a short-wait, but it's well-worth-it! Fantastic pizza, and a good wine selection. Dim lighting, checkered table cloths make this feel like your in Italy. Fun for a date night, not too casual, not too fancy and very reasonably priced!Recommended for:

We decided on a weekend getaway in SD and stayed about a block away from Little Italy. We decided to walk around to see what looked good. We passed by Filippi and there was a line of people waiting to get seated. Since we were a party of two we were seated in like 10 mins. We ordered the lasagna and the special pizza. The Special Pizza was topped Cheese, Sausage, Pepperoni, Mushroom, Bell Peppers, Black Olives, Onions & Meatball and it was pretty tasty! Lasagna was good too and a pretty good size.

This is a local chain here in San Diego, with locations in Little Italy, Chula Vista, Poway, and near the airport. The Little Italy location has an attached store with Italian goods and can get very crowded. I haven't actually sat in and dined in a while, but we usually buy their pre-made pizza dough to use at home.

Oh man. Their pizza was pretty fantastic. Get some stinky blue cheese from the deli counter and spread it on the pizza, and then prepare to take one of the tastiest bites of pizza you'll ever have.
