The adventurous trip to the heights of the Fira port are well worth it; after the ascent is completed the views are irreplaceable.

    This port is so small!
When you arrive you must either have per-arranged a transfer, scooter, or get a car rental.
There are about 5 stores and a ticket window.
You can't get lost and from there it's a long winding road up the mountain.
    The views are breathtaking!

To get here we rode our rented 4-wheelers. It was a short ride from our hotel and well worth the trip. The scenery is amazing and it looks like a postcard. The water is crystal clear!

With a cove that wraps around it, and slight waves crashing against nestled against a mountain this is a definite place to come for dinner and a date... or the family and friends.
It is something out of the old country; with donkeys coming down the mountain every now and again, and fisherman boats docked, whilst the best grilled calamari is served... this port is simply charming in every possible way!

The port of Thira is about 5 km out of the town of the island. It is located in a picturesque and remote place. There are buses from/to some landmarks and villages of Santorini (Thira) island.

Description

The island of Santorini is served by 2 ports. The Port of Fira is where cruise ships dock and it is connected to the town of Fira by cable car, the other alternative is a donkey ride to the top. Walking is extremely strenuous, and only to be considered by fitness fanatics, it also serves the pleasure boat traffic to the island of Thirassia, within the Caldera. The main port is at Athinos, and this ... read more
is connected by regular buses, which are timed to coincide with the arrival/departure of ferry services. This is the port that all the inter-island ferries use, and there are two mini markets on site.
