We stayed at the famingo Hotel and casino in las vegas 2 years ago. Also 5 years ago. It is now not the same place. It is run down. Didn't find that is was as nice. It's really outdate and needs to be changed. New updates to the rooms and we didn't find that the people that work at the desk were as nice as could be. We had prebooked out rooms and when we got there they had changed them. Take it or leave it was the attitude I took from it. I have been since but stayed else where. thanks

Fun updated rooms with a gray and pink theme. The pool area is nice and large with palm trees, outdoor bars, waterfalls, and a DJ. Inside there are many restaurant choices, shopping, and food courts. If you're looking for breakfast, stop by the Mrs. Fields cookie place. They serve egg, cheese, and ham or bacon sandwiches on your choice of fresh baked croissant or bagel. Stop by the steak place for happy hour all day. Half off martinis, glasses of wine and ask for Ted the bartender. He's the best!

My absolutely favorite hotel in Vegas! Beautiful pool, beautiful habitat, excellent buffet with a view outside, great slot machines (you can actually win something there...) and stay prices are very reasonable. Also, great location right in the middle of the strip!

We Weren't Built on the Strip
The Strip Was Built Around Us
The Flamingo is one of the old school Casino/Hotels in Las Vegas. Many of its contemporaries (Dessert Inn, Sands, Stardust, etc.) have been torn down. Others like Circus Circus are dwarfed by their more modern and shinier successors. As such, this Hotel is nothing special for Vegas goers, and for folks like me, this is where the meeting was held, so why not stay here?
My upgraded Room (in the Spa Tower) was about $80. It was roomy, clean, and comfortable, albeit dated and in need of refurbishment. And at this price, there was no coffee in the room or anything else past the most basic of amenities. In hindsight, I should have maybe splurged and stayed somewhere fancier, but considering the short stay and my focused business purpose, I did just fine.
The Conference Center part of the Hotel was much better. The meeting rooms were comfortable and very conducive for business. The Lunch Buffets were fabulous and the service in this area was excellent. It was also nice to wander out into the outdoor green belt and view the Pink Flamingos, despite the John Waters flashbacks.
Gamblers also have their choice of the main casino areas or a separate Margaritaville area. I was a Good Boy in staying of this sort of activity or any subsequent search for lost shakers of salt.Recommended for:Business Travelers

In a word: average. Standard rooms, restaurants, and mediocre buffet. It's not on my preferred list of places to stay, and it lacks the Vegas dazzle of the rest of the Strip's themed hotels. But in its defense, it is known to have some of the loosest slots in the city. Hearsay, and a bit of personal experience.
