Before staying at the Flamingo, make sure you don't mind all the neon pink around the hotel. For a mid-level hotel on the Strip, the price is reasonable and you also get to be near the center of the Strip. However, the hotel is older and is in the midst of a much needed upgrading. I would opt for another one mid-level hotel in the same price range, which is pretty easy to find.

The Flamingo Hotel & Casino is a Las Vegas classic, however, it's definitely one of the older hotels on the strip, so it lacks the glamour and bling that most other hot hotels on the strip currently have.
If you get a deal on their GO Rooms, it may be worthwhile staying here, because it's smack down in the middle of the strip (conveniently connected to Caesar's via a bridge). Their GO Rooms were renovated a few years ago, and are more stylish than their older rooms. Their older rooms will definitely leave you disappointed, since they're not much better than a typical mediocre hotel stuck in the 90s.
Unfortunately, there aren't very good dining or entertainment options here, but it's a short distance away from other nice hotels.

Stayed here once eons ago. Still remember the super colorful hallways, and the weird way to walk to the pool. The $2.99 prime rib special was a hit with the family back then.
Fast forward to now. This place is old and well, not really worth visiting since they don't have $2.99 prime rib dinners anymore (semi-kidding). The casino floor is still good though for some low minimum table gambling.

The Flamingo is another solid 3 star review in this hotel class. It has a nice lobby, nice rooms, everything is just more or less average.
However, you are in Vegas, the land of lavishes and luxuries. The land where your room is probably bigger here than your apartment, a land where 24/7 you can lose thousands of dollars and still remember it was a happy occasion. In a land like this, you probably would not want to stay in the Flamingo. Despite the Flamingo being probably a pretty good stay elsewhere, this is not the place you want to be when you are in Las Vegas.
Everything is just ok, like many reviewers said, and everything is less grandeur than what you could be getting for almost the same price elsewhere. I found out that the suites are actually a few hundred dollars, which could buy you a nice place at the Venetian for a night just as well.
The check in is easy, the check out is a mess, and it's really, really colorful.
