Excellent! - 86% of guests recommend

My overall impression of Hotel Calzaiuoli is that the room was beautiful, the hotel has all the amenities and physical things that you need, and the place is lacking in heart. Still, it's a nice place to stay. Easy to find and in a great neighborhood, it makes such a difference to be in the pedestrian zone! Everything is quieter, ...

Very Good! - 83% of guests recommend

Ooooh…arty….stark. This sleek place made me feel extremely "cool" to be inside, but I wouldn't say I ever really felt comfortable or at home. It doesn't have the warm, fuzzy atmosphere that makes you want to cozy up inside for a long weekend, but it does feel ultra modern and hip. I did appreciate the artfulness of the place - ...

Friendly small hotel in the center of old Florence and only 5 blocks from the train station. Try and get a balcony room and you'll have a view of the Duomo. The owners speak excellent English and enjoy helping their guests. A great place to base your stay in Florence.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a super clean and spacious room when we arrived. The hotel is a bit easy to miss (we did so ourselves) but once you find it and buzz up you'll be sure to enjoy it. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is free wifi too, which is a huge plus in my book.

After the minor frustration of not being able to find this hotel (it turned out to be several blocks away from where the internet said it was), I was happy to arrive at this cozy little spot and meet the nice desk clerk (who had a very soothing bass voice, by the way). As you’d expect from a mid-range option, ...

If you like to stay away from Florence city center, and if you want to watch budget, this is a great place to stay while in Florence. Friendly front desk staff and complimentary breakfast was nice. If you are a walker like I am, it is about 30-minute walk to city center. If you are not, there is a tram ...

The location of the Helvetia Bristol could not be better. Right on a lovely square and accessible to basically everywhere you would want to go in Florence. When we first arrived it took a minute to figure out that the entrance is actually just around the corner from the big sign and the flags. But not to worry! It's actually ...

    Best Western Grand Hotel Adriatico

    Class:

Very Good! - 83% of guests recommend

If I remember correctly, we stayed at this Best Western in the central area of Florence. It was cute but the shower pressure was very low and water didn't get that hot. But it did have a view of the Duomo from our balcony, continental breakfast was included and we could walk to mast everything from our hotel. (note: Use ...

Although there was nothing really wrong or missing from Best Western Laurus Al Duomo, I don't really recommend staying there. That said, if you have stayed in any Best Western anywhere and you liked it, then you probably won't have a problem with this one. That in fact, may be my problem with it: it feels like one in a ...

    Grand Hotel Mediterraneo

    Class:

Good! - 75% of guests recommend

As far as big business hotels go, the Mediterraneo is pretty darn good. The enormous lobby is sunny with comfy black leather couches, a couple of internet point computers, and free wifi. The bar feels like it's in it's own indoor piazza and has a glassed-in smoking section that is on the street. There was a bit of bureaucratic disorganization ...

    Hotel Pensione Ottaviani

Mediocre - 58% of guests recommend

This spot is a perfectly good economic option, and it’s right near the historic Palazzo Ottaviani and a couple blocks from the river. The general feel is nice, but no frills. For example, the lobby doubles as a reception room and common area, and when I visited, there was a seemingly random child watching TV there while people checked in. ...

    Tourist House

    Class:

Very Good! - 84% of guests recommend

The Tourist House was nothing to write home about, but was a good option for our budget-minded trio. Italy can be very expensive with the increasingly number of high end hotels. We chose this lodging option after a lot of online research and were satisfied with our find. The location is on a relatively quiet street, but close enough to ...
