Flying Saucers Caffeine & Art

Cool cafe with good coffee and above average coffee shop food. The theme mixes sci-fi, art and coffee. There is a neighborhood coffee shop sort of vibe, with lot's of regulars and a fairly social atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Its uninspired architecture doesn't warrant a second, or even a first, look. However, if one gets bored while attending an event, it is close to the beach, the pier and the promenade. Much smaller than the Los Angeles Convention Center, its interior space is much easier to navigate.

The Santa Monica Pier is a bit of a throwback to another age. It is a full scale amusement park jutting out into the water. The Ferris Wheel offers spectacular views of the coast (especially at sunset). In summer, they offer free concerts every Thursday night. Pack a picnic and some wine, grab a beach blanket and camp out on ...

This is what you get when you combine Socal weather & European style city centre. While it's filled with the usual suspects, it's still a thoroughly enjoyable stroll.

I come here occasionally to buy oysters from Carlsbad aquafarms. They're about as fresh as you can get 'em and you can either have them shucked on the spot for immediate consumption or you can take them home and shuck them yourself, a great deal either way.

This is one of my favorite drink spots on the west side; and it's also where I discovered one of my favorite drinks EVER. They use fresh, organic ingredients and the bartenders really know their stuff. You can also pick and choose from ingredients, then the bartenders will make you a delicious concoction with their know-how and all the goods ...

LA has an amazing Yoga culture - the teachers are top notch. This was my favorite studio when I lived in the area. Right near the beach, nice sunny studio and really good instruction for any level.

what a chilling place to be with a group of your friends. Best time to come and to sit outside is during sunset! Beautiful, cozy, breezy . Amazing food and drinks. Great mac n' cheese. Fried chicken sandwich is to to die for. Lobster sliders are also great. And DON'T leave before they give you one of their mind blowing chocolate chip cookies with sea salt.

Bryan Kest's Power Yoga is a West LA staple and an experience to try at some point. This donation based studio always and I mean ALWAYS has a line, and will always be mat to mat. Be ready to share sweat with you neighbors as the classes are very challenging, but the experience is necessary for any yogi in LA.

This is a hidden gem in Santa Monica. Right next door to West 4th/Jane on 4th Street (Between Santa Monica Boulevard and Broadway), Harvelles is an awesome place to go see live music, especially on a weeknight.
