Dark red and forbidding, this 1600's Danish fort was the center of the Danish West Indies for 200 years. In the 1950's, it housed the Police, Fire Department, Motor Vehicle Division and city/county jail. The fort entrance sits on a hill overlooking Emancipation Park, the Grand Hotel and the Waterfront and the cops would sit in folding chairs on the ...

When you go to Charlotte Amalia, this is a great breakfast spot. It is upstairs and outdoors so you can watch the harbor and foot traffic while enjoying breakfast.

This restaurant is really nice. Located in Charlotte Amalie city center, just in front of water, the restaurant is at first floor with sea style. The quality of food is good, a mix of Carribean and European cuisine.

My favorite local dining spot down town. Charlotte Amalie. Located in one of those famous brick lined, alleys, surrounded by art galleries, and duty free shopping spots. Gladys is famous for the hot sauces she makes her self. Try one with one of the local dishes, stewed chicken, meat patties, etc. Then purchase a few to take home as a ...

The most magnificent views of the islands while dining on the creme de la creme of island dishes fused with the Continental flare. It is worth the climb to the place where Black Beard once called home.

Note: Forget the "driving distance" listed by some ignorant software. It's about 30 - 35 minutes away. Great place, overlooking the downtown harbor on the water. Casual. In Frenchtown, turn down the road where the post office sits on the corner, past the McDonald's at the end of the road. Other good dinner restaurants in the same area.

Beautiful view overlooking Charlotte Amalie Harbor and the food is also first rate. Wonderful open air restaurant for dinner in town but if you need air-conditioning you can go next door the indoor, slightly more expensive, Room With a View. Both are located in the Bluebeard's Castle complex.

We had a really good dinner here, even though it is a little expensive. Food was really excellent and also the choice of wines really interesting. Dishes are prepared with a touch of innovation and fish is really delicious. The environment is a little strange, with curtains and many objects on the walls, but enjoyable.
