Well looks like this might be a one star wonder for those bumped off their flights and in a pissy mood, but I have stayed here several times and never had a problem. Pehaps it is because I am a Starwood frequent guest and I get some upgrades?
Nevertheless, I usually get a good rate of about $99 - $109 (using AAA discount) and it is convenient access to most of Los Angeles, and of course a quick way back out.
The rental cars are just a block or two away. My room was always clean and fresh, with the Sheraton "4 Pointer " bed, which was nice to sleep on with at least 4 pillows.
The restaurant has decent food for a hotel restaurant, albeit expensive, but they have a great international beer collection, which is great if you are willing to try something new. Parking will cost you about $15/day. Yes, you can watch and hear the planes land at LAX, but it never stopped me from sleeping. The elevators are slow, I admit, and many of the guests are tired, haggled international travelers on little sleep. The overall service is adequate but also a little slow.
However, I have stayed next door at the Marriott several times, too, and for about 100% more (that's $200+), you are not getting anything better except for another choice for casual eating. But you can walk to any of the dozens of hotels on Century Blvd and eat what you want. I usually have a car and drive to find good food in Culver City, Torrance, Gardena, or West LA anyway.
This hotel is also a block from a 24 Hour Fitness gym on Century, which I belong to with an unlimited membership that lets me go to any gym in their chain ($42/month). So I can trot over there, get a full workout and trot back to take a shower in my room.
This hotel also often offers 4,000 bonus starpoints for a 4 night stay, which is a nice bonus for SPG members. There is another 4 Points Sheraton in West LA in Culver City, about 2 miles away, which is a tiny bit nicer and usually $25 - $50 more per night.
If you want a little nicer in the Sheraton/Starwood Group, you can go to the Sheraton Gateway for $175 - $225 on Century a couple of blocks away, or a step higher with Westin ($200 - $275) also nearby. Or choose from several other nearby Marriott properties, all in the $175 to $275 range. Its up to you.

I was very surprised to learn that SBE owns and manages an airport hotel. SBE is more known for their trendy, upscale hotels, restaurants and nightclubs. It feels less corporate here than nearby properties. And I particularly like the atrium area off the lobby. It’s a nice, airy touch. And I was blown away by the “best brews” program at bar, where the selection of beer is unlike any I’ve seen in the LAX Corridor.
The perks are nice, too. Free shuttle service to and from LAX, complimentary internet throughout the property, and even free bottled water upon check-in. The diner has a “Golden Ticket” pancake of the day, which are massive in size, and very popular. Think banana walnut or double chocolate. The rooms are contained in three separate towers, and each has its own clientele: preferred guests stay in the west, airline staff in the east, and everyone else in the center.

Not to be confused with the Sheraton Gateway – which is slightly closer to LAX and caters more to the corporate traveler – this hotel is still within a mile of the airport, and better suited for traveling families not on the expense account. Once you get past the oddly disjointed front and wind your way to the reception desk and larger main lobby, the place is much more inviting with atrium-style windows, and plenty of open space. After checking in relax and grab a pint at Brewster’s “beererie” bar and grill, which features 110 different beers, and a semi-private gaming area with Wii station for parties of five or more. You’ll find lots of extras here not common at other hotels, including complimentary “premium sustainable” morning coffee, a hot breakfast buffet, bottled water, wifi, and airport shuttle. And even with the proximity to LAX, the rooms are pleasantly quiet.Recommended for:

this place reminds me of a country song - "my shower is broken, the heater doesn't work, the paint is peeling, the bathroom is rusting, and there weren't enough towels so my wife is grumpy. We just wanted to get a shower and sleep after a horrible day and before an early morning flight, but it just wasn't in the cards. The lobby is nice, but we were not impressed with the room.

Apparently this place got pretty sad reviews but I'm surprised that they did not reflect my experiences in staying there. Yes I do see the pictures of mysterious stains and uncleaned rooms but I thought it was really nice.
What's more, I got to stay here a few times by random chance and every time it was a consistent, nice experience. Yes you do hear the planes, see them take off, it's not the best area of town and you kind of feel like you're going to get raped while driving around in the immediate surrounding areas, but the hotel itself is nice.
The lobby is clean, check in and check out is efficient. Room service is fantastic at making my pillows super poofy and wonderfully comfortable. The room I was in all the times I stayed here was clean and I didn't see anything amiss. The only thing is that it is a little pricey for the star of the hotel that it has.
The parking is a pain. Then again, parking everywhere in LA sucks. You get charged a whole bunch and it's not like you get to park in luxury, MEH. I'd still stay here again on a good deal though!
