- Four Seasons Hotel AmmanFirst to ReviewJul 05, 2012
Maybe it was the fact that it was brand new when I was there in 2003. Maybe it was that I'd been living in a trailer in Baghdad for 4 months and hadn't showered in anything larger than a tin can the whole time. Or maybe it was that I was finally in a place that I could relax and enjoy the Middle East for a few days.
But having stayed at several other Four Seasons since, I can say that Amman rises above the rest. Here's why:
-- Service: By the time I checked in once, everyone at the desk knew my name and said hello when I walked by. In pretty much every area -- restaurant, spa, poolside -- they treat you like you're the only guest in the hotel.
-- View: The hotel is perched atop the highest of the city's hills and so has a great view. The call to prayer really expands out over the city in the early morning, which is particularly beautiful.
-- Sheets: I've never experienced anything like the sheets at the Four Seasons. Are they buffed by angels? I don't know, but nowhere else can rival the pure joy of diving into bed. Again, maybe 4 months of poly blend hell stretched over a creaky twin bed supplied by KBR contributed, but I still swoon a little when I think of them.
Jordan is a great place to see, and the Four Seasons is your best bet in Amman.
