World renowned property located on the banks of the Ayung river. The entrance to this property is the most dramatic of any hotel I have ever visited -- an elevated walkway leading you into the property which is built top down into the river valley.
Every inch of this property is gorgeous. Our biggest mistake was not spending enough time at the property itself. If you can, budget at least 2 days relaxing on-sight.
Often rated as the top property on the planet. Well worth a visit.Recommended for:

Perfect sanctuary for nature and luxurious lovers. You can expect waking up hearing birds chirping and sound of river flow, it offers various wellness and activities such as floating meditation, laughter yoga, village walk, etc. Batik painting can be arranged upon request among many other activities.

We had high expectations for this hotel as we'd been chatting about it for weeks. Walking up to the skybridge entrance that looks over their pristine rice fields was almost intimidating.
Our friends stayed here during our trip to Bali and we spent the day with them taking in the facilities and then hanging out on their suite patio with private pool.
One of my favorite moments at this hotel was working out in their gym. I was surprised when someone came up behind me only to find out they were offering me a cool refreshing towel and a fresh glass of lemon water. Right outside their gym they have plunge pools in different temperatures a wonderfully relaxing way to start your morning.

This is myself and my husband's favorite hotel in the world. It is by far the most unique, breathtaking and relaxing resort I've ever been to. Well worth the approximately one hour drive from the airport up into the mountain rainforests of Bali, you won't even be able to see the hotel when you first arrive. The resort will pick you up by van and transport you to the hotel. Upon arrival, you are acutally above the hotel and will cross an amazing bridge to get to the main building, then go down to the lobby. The entire place is open-air. The Balinese people are gentle, kind and peaceful. The staff at this resort is constantly smiling and the service is incredible. We stayed in a one bedroom villa with a plunge pool. All the villas are hidden in the trees and completely private. You really cannot see your neighbors villa or pool, so skinnydip if you like! Our room package included breakfast each day either in-room or at the restauant, which we did both. Either way, its a complete spread with anything you would like on the menu. Which brings me to my next favorite thing about this resort- it was the best breakfast I've ever had. I'll never forget the strawberry-mango pancakes, bold, delicious coffee and sitting in those peaceful surroundings feeling more relaxed than I ever have on a vacation. If you want to feel total peace, go to Bali. Its hard to explain, but not only the island surroundings, but the people themselves make you feel a spiritual kind of peace. I thought I'd review this resort as most people may not have stayed there before and I highly recommend it for a different type of vacation you'll never forget. Most people when they visit Bali stay at the beach in Jimbaran Bay, which we did, as well and the Four Seasons there is wonderful, but Sayan is so much more of an experience and staying in the rainforest is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Lastly, I should mention that neither of the Four Seasons resorts were expensive. We visited years ago, but at that time, this incredible resort was only about $300 per night including the amazing breakfast. We learned that, while it may be expensive to fly to Bali, (save your miles & points!) once you get there, the hotels from the Four Seasons to the Ritz Carlton are very reasonable and not as expensive as this level of hotel would be in most other cities. I feel so fortunate to have had the chance to visit Bali and would not have stayed in Sayan if it hadn't been recommended to me by a friend who had been there, so I am passing that same advice on to you!

Ubud is spectacular and there is a wide variety of lodging options from super cheap and charming to expensive and luxurious. For twenty five bucks a night you can find something right in the center and probably get a massage thrown in for free. But if you're willing to splurge, as we did on our honeymoon, there's no place more special than the four seasons sayan. Set up high overlooking rice fields, everything about this place is amazing. The "huts", the food, the service. As our stopover city we chose Japan ( Tokyo and Kyoto) which provided a very different but equally amazing experience.Recommended for:
