A British pub in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is most definitely unexpected. This place is the proverbial well-kept secret, yet it's situated on the popular Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community tour, so it's easy to find. Owner (publican?) Brian Papworth is the grandson of a British immigrant, and he and his staff serve up some traditional fare along with the British fare (and brews). "Parrot wings" are actually spicy chicken wings and drumsticks. Try the "bangers and mash," and be sure to get the "chips" - deep-fried potatoes with malt vinegar.
Laid-back pub feel (of course) and a great sense of humor. They refer to themselves as a "Husband Day Care Centre....Want to go shopping? Leave your husband with us. We will look after him for you. You only pay for his drinks." But, no, it's not a guy-only hangout. They make all feel like you're in England, though you're sitting in Gatlinburg.
