The "original" casino street of Vegas, once known as the Glitter Gulch for all of its neon signs, got a makeover in the mid-1990s and is now a pedestrian corridor with plenty of local culture, a popular sound and light show on the canopy ceiling, and affordable drinks and souvenirs.

Get here on the hour after nightfall for the amazing show on the giant ceiling screen. One of the best experiences I've had.

The Fremont Street Experience is part county fair, part old school Las Vegas, part street performers, part shopping mall stage shows, part being inside a video game, all wrapped up together with a lot of lights, and people you would see at your local carnival. Cheesy, but somehow appealing for less than 60 minutes.

Fremont street is a must visit for anyone in the vegas area. although a little sketchier and not as flashy, it offers higher odds gambling with lower bets. It is filled with a lot more locals than tourists and generally more fun since it is devoid of all the twenty somethings drinking themselves into idiots.

It was nice to see the old Vegas strip. There are far more locals than tourists. It's definitely an experience. But, if you are more comfortable around tourists....stay in the strip.

This is the Las Vegas of old. They have a laser light show at night which was fantastic, and you can find plenty of cheap drinks here as well.

I only stay of Fremont St. Being able to walk across the street to another casino is the best. Plus a lot less touristy once you've been to the BLVD enough times.

I remember when I could drive down this street now it just walk down the street but adding this item made it better something you just got to experience yourself. Park at the 4 Queens for the best location is at the 4 Queens and Golden Nugget location. Disability Access is provide. Check the Fremont Street Experience website for the times and what is showing.

This is definite worth to visit, unlike the strip. Everything cheaper here and you had better odds of winning in the casino. There's a lot of street performer here just aware you won't find fine dining here.

What a fun and lively street this is! Fremont Street should definitely be a place to check out outside of the Vegas strip. Lots of stages with entertainment, street performers, drawing/painting, and more.

So cool to walk through here and experience the old Vegas! Elvis Presley Vegas! The ceiling shows different stars at night time so it's almost like a concert. So cool!

Ok James Bond fans. This is the street where James Bond (Sean Connery) and Tiffany Case (Jill St. John) engaged in a wild car chase, ending with the 1970's Ford on its two side wheels. The street itself is now closed to traffic and many of the Las Vegas Classics such as The Mint are gone. However there are several casinos that are still there. Of note is The Golden Gate, the oldest hotel/casino still in existence. Binion's founded by legendary poker player and erstwhile gangster Benny Binion. The Plaza at the end of the of Fremont street, although it seems to under construction in the film. See if you can walk the car chase. Also if you follow me (Jay Amernick) on Social Cam I have a James Bond Diamonds Are Forever Video Location Guide where I take you move by move thru the car chase! Live it up you are in Las Vegas for cryin’ out loud!

A musical LED and light show shown every hour on the hour after dark. Rock out, sip on a beverage and look up towards the sky. The show can be seen from anywhere along the covered part or tunnel around Fremont Street.

Caution: Watch your belongings and be aware of suspicious folks that may try to steal your winnings.

I have seen the Fremont Street lightshow many years ago when it first open and I honestly don't remember it being this commercialized. The content of the show varies. They were doing a tribute to the classic rock icons and the songs were good. The visuals, unfortunately, were sadly repetitive and unappealing. I still like their abstract and fictional shows better. Do check the schedule before you come if there are something in particular you want to see.

The Fremont Street Experience was very close to our hotel, so we walked through it going back and forth each day. It's a bit seedy and not as high-end as the hotels on the strip, but it's something to see. The ceiling projection is pretty cool. I was mad that I didn't realize until after I'd left Vegas that U2 filmed the video for "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" there.

If you make your way to dirty ol' downtown Las Vegas to check out the zany light-and-sound show called the Fremont Street Experience, then you've got to take this zipline down the canopy that arches of the street. You can fly right by all the casino neon while the drunken crowds gawk from below. After dark it's a bit more expensive ($15, as opposed to $10 during the day), but totally more fun.
