This Munjoy Hill landmark suffered a devastating fire last summer and thankfully will reopen this summer 2014! They have the LARGEST muffins I have ever seen! Don't feel like making dinner tonight? No problem, they have delicious pre-made dinners in a deli case. Lasagna, Penne with homemade meatballs, Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans.. the list goes on and ...

    Fore Street

    0.69 mi from Front Room
    15 reviews

Sometimes repurposed buildings and warehouses make the most interesting venues. Take the Fore St. Restaurant as an example, the combination of a thoughtful makeover, interesting open kitchen layout, and excellent cuisine make for a great dining experience. My favorite was the oven fired mussels appetizer, and the grilled fish. Not at all touristy of a feel like I've been told ...

Browse the bread selection—country boules, focaccias, anadama, cinnamon raisin, pain de mie, baguettes. Pastries include pain au chocolat, spicy gingerbread slices, and wild Maine blueberry hand pies, made with a ...

    Duck Fat

Stopped by for fries fried in duck fat to go for snacking on while walking around town. The fries were good with the garlic dipping sauce, and I was happy they gave me a couple of fiddlehead ferns to taste for fun. That was nice.

This is a must visit restaurant if you are in Portland, located across from the ferry docks on the waterfront. The pizzas are delicious and the salads are super fresh and feature all locally grown, organic ingredients (in summer, be sure to have a salad with wild Maine blueberries). Great family place with table activities for kids. Check their website ...

    Novare Res Bier Cafe

    0.79 mi from Front Room
    5 reviews

Novare Res has an absolutely incredible selection of beers, primarily but not exclusively European beers. It's less of a beer garden and more of a beer cellar. Even so, the atmosphere is splendid with wooden seating and a couch or two, though it can be slightly loud if it's crowded.

4 stars for the building. It's an old church and spectacularly turned into a restaurant. A huge, oval concrete bar anchors the center. The food is a little too arty. Good cocktails.

Skip the touristy lobster spots and hang with the locals. Get the lobster roll sandwich (a Maine staple). Trust me, you won’t regret it. Your best bet is to grab a seat outside with a view of the wharf.

Probably the best coffeeshop in Portland. They know how to make a fantastic espresso, and do individual drip cups of coffee. Plenty of seating inside, free wi-fi, and sometimes events at night, I hear. Plus, I think they're open later than any of the other Portland coffeeshops. Totes my favorite.

Had a recommendation to Sonny's and was not disappointed. I had the Jaycito cocktail featuring chili infused tequila and cilantro, the salt cod dropped fritters and an amazing orange habanero brownie sundae that I will dream about all summer long.
