This is one of Singapore’s oldest big hotels and looks kind of grungy from the outside, but the interior is much better and the rooms look like they’ve been recently renovated. Rooms are comfortable with soft beds, mini-bar, kettle so you can make tea, and a new TV, but there’s a rather limited selection of channels. There charges for the broadband internet are a bit high, so try to get a room rate that includes it. I liked the big windows and the skyline view with the Singapore Flyer ferris wheel. The bathroom was really clean with a combined shower/tub. The outdoor pool is a nice feature for this price range and there’s a fitness center, although it’s pretty small. The location is great as it’s perfectly between downtown and Chinatown so really convenient for Singaporean food, going to the bars at Boat Quay, or taking the subway.Recommended for:

This hotel is pretty typical of chain hotels all around the world. Although the exterior of the building looks pretty run-down as it is quite an old hotel, the interiors are very impressive and well-designed. Everything looks new and classy. The bedrooms are decent, spacious with all the basic amenities like coffee/tea maker, iron, in-room safe, television etc. Beds are clean and comfortable. Many of the rooms also have a very good view of Singapore’s city skyline which is nice. Bathrooms are spacious, clean and well-designed and have both bathtubs/shower options. Unfortunately, there is no free wifi available or breakfast provided with the room. However, the hotel has a pretty decent pool that has a magnificent view of the city. They also have a well-equipped fitness centre for those who want to work out. The Furama City Centre has a pretty good location as it is about a 5-minute walk from the nearest train station. It is also very near main attraction sites in Singapore.

The Furama Hotel is fantastic! Beautifully decorated, everything you need could be provided. The staff were wonderful - nothing was too much trouble and they were all very polite and accommodating. The rooms were very comfortable with bathroom ensuite. Shops within and adjoined to the hotel made it a very pleasurable experience, without having to go outside into the hustle and bustle and heat of Singapore. Very centrally located, the hotel gave easy access to most places and it was on a very good public transport route.

Good location, bad guest service, ready to retire rooms — definitely not a 4*’s as claimed (as of 2008)! The ambiance was stuffy, the room tasteless and extremely dated. It is by the lively China Town and the sightseeing bus stop. A future visit is certainly not a consideration.
