A hidden gem on UCLA's campus. An intimate but very modern theatre housed in a charming stone building that opens out into a little courtyard complete with a spanish-tiled fountain and trees lit with lanterns and white lights. A nice little bar that serves light refreshments like cheese plates, cookies, wines (including bubbly), and tea/coffee. You can even pre-order refreshments for intermission so you don't have to queue up when everyone rushes for a drink. The play I saw was just so-so (in fairness, it was a preview), but the sound quality and set design and seating was all great. I was in the Gil Cates theatre and there probably isn't a bad seat in the house there. The Geffen has different themed nights posted on their website - wine nights, girls' night out etc. I will definitely go back when they feature something else.
