Museum visitors can learn about Los Angeles as it was between 10 thousand and 40 thousand years ago when animals such as saber-toothed cats and mammoths roamed the Los Angeles Basin. Visitors can also watch bones being cleaned and repaired through windows at the Page Museum Laboratory.

I love this museum. It's draws from the paleontological remains found in the adjacent La Brea Tar Pits, and from elsewhere. literally central to the exhibits is a glassed in lab space for paleontologists and related scientists to work in the round where people can see them.
The displays are fascinating and educational, though there are some animatronic displays that can be a little scary to younger children. Very young children seem to prefer to roll down the the grassy hills that abut the building...Recommended for:Family Travelers
