The best thing about this place seems to be its location – a couple of blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro – though the neighborhood is cute enough. As its name implies, it’s in the heart of GWU territory, so you’ll see lots of kids in the streets here.
People seem to love the rooms with the kitchenettes, but I didn’t even know they had them. The room I was in had a fridge and microwave, which was enough for me. It’s not like I’m going to be whipping up gourmet dinners in a hotel. There is a Whole Foods a couple of blocks away, but honestly, couldn’t you eat out for almost the same price? In fact, nearby is Lindy's Red Lion, where they have great burgers, if you don’t mind the noise and sitting elbow-to-elbow with college kids. They serve beer (hence all the college students), but my favorite is their root beer.

First and foremost, this hotel is hard to find. Their signage is sparse, perhaps because of the quasi-residential nature of the neighborhood, but regardless I struggled to find the hotel.
That said, it's worth the hunt. The hotel has the charm of a well-manicured bed and breakfast while coming equipped with the amenities of a nice hotel. I found the room stately and sizable, and while the kitchen might not be necessary for all travelers it's just nice to have one, especially if you're staying for multiple evenings.
The fitness center is pretty small and they don't have a pool, though they do share one with a hotel just a few blocks away if you ask them. However, they are conveniently located near downtown Washington (including the famous/infamous K Street) as well as the White House. I personally love to romp around college campuses, so their proximity to GW University is a big plus for me. The Foggy Bottom and McPherson Square Metro stations also aren't too far away for travelers looking to get out and about.
This is a particularly good choice for prospective students and their families as well as business travelers, but it's a solid pick for anyone going to Washington.
