Jack's boathouse offers customers reasonably priced kayak rentals out of the Georgetown neighborhood. You rent in 1 hour increments, and they're flexible with their time (we took em out for 1.5 hrs and they didn't say anything). The paddle around Teddy Roosevelt Island is nice, and you can land your boat and hike inland to check out the monument (if ...

While there has been a lot of newer construction, the oldest buildings including the central church are designed to look like Gothic England. Pretty impressive, but otherwise a small preppy school.

This is an interesting place to spend some time away from the large attractions. You get to see how goods were transported back before roads were that common or useful. A pleasant way to spend some time in a more rustic time.
