    Marienplatz 8, 80331 Munich, Germany
    5 reviews

An amazing, giant hobbit hole wonderland. We got here when they opened and there were only a couple other people in the restaurant. We had weisswurst and pretzels with spicy mustard. Maybe it's a bit of a tourist place, but it was a good introduction to Munich.

Platzl 9, Munich, BY 80331 Germany

De rigeur for a first trip to Munich. The main attraction is the beer, served in 1 liter mugs. They also serve gigantic soft pretzels to help soak it up. Kitschy (the waitstaff is clad in liederhosen) but fun.

    Weißes Bräuhaus im Tal

Tal 7, Munich, BY 80331 Germany

Thought rebuilt after the war, like the majority of places in Germany, when you walk into this place it feels like you're in another time. Recently stopped in as I had a half-day morning layover in Munich and needed a Weisswurst fix. Luckily they were open at 9:00 am when I arrived, I enjoyed the live Bavarian music, weisswurst (don't ...

Small but perfectly formed. Only stayed long enough for a very nice cappucino, but sandwiches looked appealing too.

    Clärchens Ballhaus Restaurant

    Auguststraße 24, 10117 Berlin, Germany
    7 reviews

Ballroom dancing and restaurant. One of the last remainders of the old Eastern Berlin times... the interior is practically untouched since 40-50 years. Good German kitchen and you can watch tango dancers, swing dancers and other types of dances, depending on the day. Tuesdays are recommended.

    Mustafa's Gemüse Kebap

    Mehringdamm 32, Berlin 10961 Germany
    6 reviews

Berlin has the best Turkish food north of the Hellespont, and Mustafa's (in Kreuzberg) has the best kebabs in Berlin. Super-cheap (about 3 euros), super-delicious. Lines for lunch or evening drunk-time can be hella long.

    Augustiner Großgaststätten

Neuhauser Straße 27, Munich, BY 80331 Germany

On our last day in Munich my wife and I sat outside of Augustiner enjoying the local brew and eating wurstel. Part of the enjoyment was the cobble stone streets and churches around us.

    Zum franziskaner

    6 reviews

This is a nice place to eat, if you want the heavy local stuff. waiters & waitresses all dressed in traditional Bavarian attires made it look a bit disney-esque to me, but apparently that's common practice in Munich. (there were fashion shops with these skimpy Bavarian costumes that looked almost, well, fetish... but as it turns out they actually wear ...

    Paulaner Am Nockherberg

Hochstrasse 77, Munich, BY 81541 Germany
    5 reviews

Munich's annual Starkbierzeit (Strong Beer Season) traditionally begins at this restaurant/beer hall, before spreading to other breweries like Löwenbräu and Augustiner. Held in early-mid March, Starkbierzeit is a less-publicized alternative to Oktoberfest, and features hearty dopplebock beer, traditional Bavarian costumes, oompah bands and contests of strength. Starkbier was initially brewed by the Paulaner monks to help fortify them during the ...

Französische Straße 47, Berlin, BE 10117 Germany

Some German co-workers took me here when I was visiting on work a few years ago - and it was awesome. They are known for their schnitzel - which I kid you not is so big it spills over the edges of the plate. Apparently this is where German celebrities go to eat schnitzel, and I understand why. It's also ...
