Alas, I will never, ever be able to go to Gibson Amphitheater again after tomorrow. Why? Because it is being permanently shut down to pave way for the new Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios. GA was a staple of the LA music scene for many decades and as of tomorrow, 9/6/13, it will close down for the final time. Too bad because I really liked that GA was an indoor venue versus an outdoor one like Hollywood Bowl.
I was able to score tickets to see Backstreet Boys perform at GA. Parking was a breeze at the Universal Studios general parking lot. I paid $10 instead of the more expensive $20-30 options. Of course, this meant I had to walk about 5 measly minutes through CityWalk and window shopped along the way.
Finding the entrance to GA was done with pure luck. The entrance is tucked away behind the ticket kiosks and if I hadn't spot a small light-up sign, I wouldn't have seen the entrance. Security briefly glanced inside my small messenger bag before sending me on my way. Once inside, I was pretty amazed by how well-kept the place was. My cousin and I were wondering why they were shutting the place down, but I guess nothing is as important as Harry Potter? :(
The seats we had were actually horrible, but we made the best of it. The people who worked at Gibson were courteous and worked their butts off helping people find their section/seats. Speaking of seats, GA is a medium-sized venue so even if you're at the end, in general, you're not THAT far from the stage. With that said, we had to struggle to see the stage from our spots because for some reason our section didn't have stadium style seatings for Rows D and E (we were in E). Since it was a sold-out show, there wasn't even a chance for us to jump into better seats!
Overall, I had a good time at Gibson and would have liked to return for more events. Too bad this will never happen!

Tried to get PIT tickets but sold out to the Kevin & Bean's April Foolishness Show. PIT looked awesome, but we weren't that far. We got the next level up. I think you'd get a good view no matter what because you have two huge screens and I could see their faces from my view too.
RAY ROMANO was trying to be discreet and sat next to our seats! I didn't notice him! But then he moved to the pit. Epic.

Long lines and overpriced... you can't bring your own drinks/food but I did! muahaha
If you're a woman, long lines :/
Not bad. They have a cupholder and cushioned - no head rest :(
Trashcans are FAR away from seats... so to throw your trash, you need to walk towards the concession stands.
Overall: Nice theater. I can't wait to go to a show there!

Located inside the Universal Studios theme park, the ampitheatre is a decent place to see concerts. The seats are arranged in a circle with a pit in front of the stage. The seats are not very big or comfy if you'll be sitting during the concert, but the sound is good and can be heard from everywhere inside the theater.
