It's the only way to get to Zermatt - don't make the mistake of trying to drive up the one lane road into a NO CAR town! OOPS! I guess that's why the french couple was yelling at us....

I was fortunate to take the Glacier Express from St. Moritz to Zermatt a few weeks ago, and it was absolutely incredible! The ride is about 8 hours, but it is well worth it.

The train has massive panorama windows that allows you to see even the tallest of mountains just beside the train, and each seat features a headset with historical developments/facts about the route and train system of that region of Switzerland.

The best time to go is when there is still plenty of snow on the mountains, and you are sure to see some of the most unbelievable sights you have ever encountered. This ride also features one of the worlds most famous viaducts, and the route itself is an engineering marvel--think about how difficult it is to move tons of steel up into the mountains. Luckily the Swiss came up with their own extra rail system which is locked into place every time a steep ascend begins; this keeps the train from sliding down the track with gravity.

    Absolutely breathtaking!

It's fantastic route between Zermatt to St.Moritz even 8 hours, not boring. If you have time enough, don't forget to reserve a seat in right side for the better view of scenic.

Known as the slowest scenic express train in the world, Switzerland's Glacier Express is an absolutely amazing ride from Zermatt to St. Mortriz (and vice versa) through the mountains, lakes, tunnels, streams, aqua ducts and villages of the Swiss Alps. The total trip takes about 8 hours and these 8 hours just flies by as the wonderful Swiss Alps appears in different forms in front of your eyes.

The trains have panoramic windows that extend from the roof to the seats to provide best viewing. The cuisine and hospitality on board is exquisitely Swiss. This is THE scenic train ride to get yourself on while in Switzerland!

Had a really nice and scenic ride on the segment from Brig to Chur. Lovely.
